I worked at Towers Watson full-time

    Pros

Have flexibility to work from home.
People who enjoy working in a remote environment will like it because you will never a have a team. Entire work/meetings is done through phone.

    Cons

No work life balance during peak seasons. They don't treat you as humans during peak hours as client comes first no matter what.
Leadership has unreasonable expectations. They don't understand the system but demand you to work.
Heavily process oriented company so there is absolutely no scope to define anything. You have to follow the process even when it is inefficient

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be reasonable to your employees and listen to their voice. Try being flexible when needed.

I have been working at Towers Watson full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Flexibility, work with smart people, good PTO allowance, stable

    Cons

Too much bureaucracy - hard to make changes. Business units are very silo'ed, so it's very difficult to rotate into different roles.

I have been working at Towers Watson full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great place to work for a young professional looking for career development and advancement opportunities (not just actuaries and/or analysts!). Training and mentoring is provided on a daily basis through team/committee work and also through direct contact with your people manager. Overall collaborative, relaxed and fun work environment.

    Cons

While there is room for quick advancement for young professionals, starting base salaries are not as high as offers from competitors. Overall compensation package and career opportunities help to outweigh this disparity.

    Pros

Great people. My team are brilliant to work with and there are some very inspiring associates throughout all regions and areas of the business. As part of HR you get to participate in initiatives such as the 'connectivity committee' which is an associate listening programme where you get to input ideas and give feedback.

    Cons

It is a big company so you have to find your niche I suppose.

I have been working at Towers Watson full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    - Client Base is class leading for Benefits
    - Strong resources due to national depth
    - Reasonably flexible atmosphere (no one watching to see if I was at my desk from 8-5)
    - Pay and benefits were reasonable for my role and skill set
    - Variety of work is engaging
    - Worked with very talented people

    Cons

    - Work-life balance is an issue for many (trade-off for flexibility)
    - You're "in" or "out" here in terms of pay and promotions. I was generally in but I saw the disparity
    - Bureaucracy is too powerful
    - Career development is a joke in terms of going from mid level to senior level in Retirement. The decline of DB plans is killing their ability to move people to senior consultant and is driving away younger talent who would have found a way to partner roles in the past in retirement

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in your 31-40s who are good in Retirement. Don't let dinosaur 50s and 60s weight the firm down. Figure out your best 1-3 people at this level in every office. Sit down and discuss what opportunities are available to them for the next 12-24 months and how those help them grow to level 50.

    Pros

All of the things that people generally say I would agree with. Co-workers are great.

I worked at Towers Watson full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Smart and driven people that work there.

    Cons

I never was given an opportunity to pursue growth in my position which required to keep up with technology and education/training. Lack of software training/education is causing poor performance and low quality in their deliverables. Company value and morale started to deteriorate after the company merger.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look ahead and anticipate the talent of potential employees and spur growth in their field to keep up with technology.

I have been working at Towers Watson full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Company puts a high premium on ensuring work-life balance. They also get managers who really care for its people, and ensures great career development.

    Cons

Unless you are a team leader/manager, compensation may not be as competitive. Those looking for good retirement plans should also review what this company is offering, as it needs to be updated to be in tune with the times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work. Totally appreciate that you listen to your employees' voice.
