I worked at Toyoda Gosei North America full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Lack of resources mean you will do a lot and learn a lot
Job Security (Japanese don't lay people off)
Taught employees to perform under pressure

    Cons

The office that never close, rain, snow and flood will not stop people from coming into work
    Flooding parking lots
No lap tops. (This one is huge especially when the circuit breaker always trip. Imagine when you spent hours analyzing data and suddenly the power goes off and you lose all your work)
Japanese terms that means nothing to Americans

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If the local office are going to be staff by Americans then integrate the culture completely

I worked at Toyoda Gosei North America full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Good about providing training, excellent benefits (pre-2009), opportunities to cross train.

    Cons

Disconnect between Japanese and US management, lots of nepotistic hiring and favoritism.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take some time to know your employees rather than just relying on general preconception. Big decisions were made about employees with little or no knowledge of their value.

I worked at Toyoda Gosei North America full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The employees are friendly and nice.

    Cons

Way to much work load in I.T., No I.T. structure , No investment in employees, underpays Skill workers, has very little interest in creating a better environment. Only cares about getting product out the door.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in your I.T. department (its not 1988 anymore) and invest in your employees. You continually abuse the employees by dramatically underpaying them and on top of that forcing them to carry a very heavy workload so you can " Do more with way less"

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook

I worked at Toyoda Gosei North America as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Great Internship opportunities, great opportunities for entry level positions, flexible hours, cafeteria, employee fitness program, manufactures good products

    Cons

Corporation mentality, doesn't care about contract employees, barely cares about non-office employees. Will send engineers away from their families for years at a time just because they don't want to hire someone new in a different location.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You can't throw money at all your problems and wonder why you're broke.
