Advice to Senior Management
Overtime should be optional, not mandatory
Promote from within
Enhance the work - life balance
Modernize the office rules because most of the rules are outdated
Pros
Job for life or as close as you can find to it these days
Cons
Very little room for advancement
Salary increases rarely beat inflation
Industry in decline
Advice to Senior Management
Actually practice the Toyota Way dont just preach it
Pros
Vacation allotment is fair, good benefits, pension.
job variety, good accessibility to all levels of management,
on-the-job training creates competencies.
Cons
Recent cuts (salary/bonus freeze, training cuts, vacation) make uncompetitive environment. Management promotes favorites & talent leaving. Too rigid office rules.
Advice to Senior Management
Promote from within as many companies do. Many long-serving TMs have demonstrated competencies & dedication. Modernize office rules. Work-life balance!!
Pros
Toyota pays about an average engineering base salary, however you get compensated for overtime so your salary ends up being above average. The benefits are pretty good.
Cons
You will work long hours (12 hours a day) and almost every saturday or sunday. You will also not be approved to take your vacation most of the time. Seems like the company is really managed by the japanese and you are just implementing their ideas so you can't really do anything innovative. Basically you are an engineer version of the assembly line workers. Most people who work here too are lifers so its hard to get promoted.
Advice to Senior Management
Try to have some respect for the whole idea of work-life balance, we are not slaves
