I have been working at Toyota Motor Sales full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

For now...bonus, company pension, and company lease vehicle.

    Cons

Where do I start? Bad management that only reacts and never are proactive. Lack of clear direction. Lazy managers. Promotions based on nepotism and politics. Too many executive and dealer kids are being hired and promoted based on management relationships with their parents. No recruitment of REAL talent. Pay is awful. No work life balance with employees stretching very thin with more responsibilities as management won't really do anything right now until the move to Plano, TX. The only thing they will do is make sure they can "harmonize" aka downsize the company right now. A lot of people are quitting and go elsewhere since the majority don't want to move to Plano. No diversity in Executive level management and the pool of people that will get there in the next 5 years are similar profiles to current Executive Management, which are all white men. Not many ethnic people in upper management and it appears that the only ethnic "diversity" at that level that they would consider is an African American man. All the diversity are in the lower level jobs at Toyota. Too many unmotivated people right now and lack of engagement with employees after management made the announcement with the move to Texas. A lot of uncertainty with what else would change once the move to Texas is complete.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more transport and upfront earlier.

I have been working at Toyota Motor Sales full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

A strong company with many, many talented people. Associates are diverse in ethnicity, education, goals, expectations, etc. Bonuses, 9/80 work time, lease car(s), health benefits, free fitness center at HQ, raises.

    Cons

The "Peter Principle" - many associates have been promoted to management positions which are beyond their ability to manage people and/or projects. This causes a huge black hole in project approvals, direction, budget, etc. Lack of people skills causes undue and unnecessary slowdowns in productivity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

As part of a manager's compensation, bonus, etc., conduct 360 degree reviews. Insist that managers attend management skills training to maintain their "certification" as a manager.

I worked at Toyota Motor Sales full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great learning experience which would have taken years to achieve in an academic setting.

    Cons

Too many layers of management so lower level managers become very frustrated and can't always accomplish their goals and objectives.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more attentive to their lower level managers.

I have been working at Toyota Motor Sales full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Overall decent company. People are nice, associates are willing to help each other to achieve success. Dry cleaning and gym on site.

    Cons

Not a diverse executive management team. Moving up is next to impossible due to older employees who refuse to retire. Pay is less than competitive position in other companies. Management is no longer transparent about the future. The company is also moving to Dallas, so morale is down and people are looking for ways out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Rethink the prospect of all employees leaving. Not having a presence on one of the coasts can be very costly long term. Diversify the executives to better reflect the market.

I have been working at Toyota Motor Sales full-time

    Pros

Great medical benefits, paid time off, 9/80, pension, lease car including insurance, casual dress. Company salary is very competitive with annual bonus. Overall strong supportive management with a great pool of high performing associates.

    Cons

Company relocating to Texas, culture will probably change with less respect for people as now looking at the bottom line. Anticipate benefits to change as Texas is an employer friendly state. A lot of silo's and runs on some antiquated systems.

I worked at Toyota Motor Sales as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

The Lexus Southern regional office was a fantastic place to spend my summer for an internship. Gained some very valuable experience.

    Cons

No true cons. The workplace is fantastic. Just be mindful of the commute to and from Alpharetta. GA 400 is awful and I-285 is worse

    Pros

Great place to learn and grow. Friendly, helpful, and professional people work at Toyota. Long tenured employees so they value teamwork and helping each other.

    Cons

Hierarchical organization. Depending on the department you work, it takes time for your ideas to come to fruition and get implemented. Slow and hierarchical decision making.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Push more decision making down to the front line and hold managers accountable for coaching and developing their associates.
