I have been working at Toyota as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

The people are great to work with and talented. Managers cultivate a great work environment where the expectations are high but the rewards for meeting them are well represented.

    Cons

Hard to come up with cons, but as with most places, you may encounter one or two individuals that may not fit in with the rest of the company, but even they are manageable. Any sort of con with Toyota in America may be a result of interacting with certain managers from Toyota departments in Japan that can make decisions difficult. But in the end, Toyota delivers high results while maintaining a great relationship with its employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep promoting from within, it has built a great working environment. As part of the US progression, keep integrating more Americans into the management structure.

I worked at Toyota part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

it is his prototype car questionnaire, hosted for two days, well organized event, nice co-workers, flexible working time,

    Cons

The place for this survey is a little bit far from city, both for staffs and participants. Otherwise, it was all good

I have been working at Toyota as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Stable, big name, nice managers, nice people, overtime, good benefits and more. Overall a great company to work for as a Co-Op.

    Cons

Some of the people in TRINA are weird. Also a no professional reference policy makes it difficult to get a reference which is important for Co-Ops.

I have been working at Toyota as a contractor (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Better than regular starting wage for the area. The illusion of potential advancement and security.

    Cons

Toyota business model is the textbook excuse of why a Union is needed! They carry a regular to contract employee ratio of 60/40 in the event of sales slumps. Then they can cut (layoff) the contract help while maintaining a rating of not laying off any "toyota" employees.
The temp to hire people make at best, 75% what an equivalent Toyota worker is paid for the same job position. The lower management cherry picks the candidates for transition based on personal seniority favorites, not base seniority, so if your boss doesn't like your age, race, sex, or tolerance for poor management, you will be bypassed, skills not applicable. You can't get any help from the Temp providing service because in most cases, Toyota is paying the standard employee rate to the provider which pinches off whatever rate they choose from your wage.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Oversee hiring practices, the lower management is discriminating in hiring personal friends, drinking buddies, and the prettier applicants by selective discrimination. The 60/40 rule is insulting many workers who devote their reputation toward being hard workers entitled to the right of being hired. You have temp workers with 3 to 5 years still waiting on a little recognition and getting really disillusioned!

I have been working at Toyota full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Tremendous culture
    Competitive Pay/Benefits package
Opportunities to do more than just your job
    Growing YP community

    Cons

Most managers are not good developers of people and talent
Not very much recognition or appreciation for doing work outside of your scope
Upper management will very rarely fight for you
Still behind the times in engaging the YP culture, but catching up quickly

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Listen to young professionals
Foster a more open environment for questions and concerns
Encourage and support activities that contribute to making the workplace interesting and engaging for all
Future leaders should be identified on leadership potential and performance, not just the latter.

I have been working at Toyota full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good pay, above average benefits, good work environment without repetition of doing the same job for the entire shift.

    Cons

2nd shift hours are not good for family life, actually a split between 2nd and 3rd shift. Not a good start time or end time.
