I have been working at Toys ''R'' Us part-time

    Pros

All of my co-workers are really nice and the pay is pretty good for just being a cashier. There are a lot of ways to improve and move up and really shine. The management is super understanding when it comes to time off and schedules. I actually look forward to coming to work everyday and really enjoy my job.

    Cons

Sometimes the customers are rude, especially around the holidays, but that's no different from any other place.

I worked at Toys ''R'' Us part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Most of the staff in both stores that I have worked for are great. You have dedicated team members who know their stuff. It also is a great place for part time job.

    Cons

Outside of the Christmas season there arr no hours. So you have to have a second job. The full-time employees only work q about 30 hours a week.
Also because most employees are hired during the Season, management has a tendency to not provide you the support that you need. They also will kinda make you feel like you are replaceable.
If they are not making sales you will be sent home.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make new hires feel like you want them to be there. Also allow for the adequate amount of training.

    Pros

Over all a good company with great store managers. Lots of fun getting to know the regulars and watching their kids grow.

    Cons

Very little pay with very high expectations of you. Never get a holiday off to spend with your family. Internally promoted employees get paid $3-5 less than external hires. Loyalty means nothing to them.

I have been working at Toys ''R'' Us part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I absolutely love and miss all of my coworkers! They made the job fun ! Flexible scheduling perfect for college students.

    Cons

Worked under three different store managers and they were all terrible to work for. Out of the COUNTLESS assistant store managers, some were really awesome but most were the same as the SMs. Pay was decent for retail (A little above minimum wage). I, personally, did not like the policies of the company nor their outrageous prices but toward the end of my time with them they finally caved into price matching year-round so I was able to help customers not get robbed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Appreciate your workers, set reasonable goals and praise them when they reach them- not just raise them.

I worked at Toys ''R'' Us full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great environment if you have the right management team. The company is very guest centric with a strong focus on making sure each guest leaves happy. It was fun being able to help find the perfect gifts for children especially during the Christmas season.

    Cons

The corporate level has a lot left to be desired as far as management skill and organization. During my 4 years with the company, my store moved districts 3 times and we had a different district manager for each. The pay is lacking with the department supervisors making far less than what they should for what is expected from them. As a department supervisor, my work-life balance was also off. An inconsistent schedule along with the expectation that you would stay past your shift meant I could rarely make plans.

I worked at Toys ''R'' Us part-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - Hiring staff responds to applications quickly
    - Time between interview, training, and starting job is fairly quick

    Cons

    - Disorganized seasonal staff schedule
    - You have to take charge and find out when you are scheduled because no one will call/email you

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There needs to be more organization with regards to the scheduling of seasonal staff. It is very chaotic. There should be someone telling you what days and times staff are working. Staff shouldn't have to figure that out on their own. Also, there should be more training involved with seasonal staff. Personally, I was shown 3 or 4 transactions at the guest services register in my first shift and then I was left completely alone for the rest of the shift.
