    Pros

    Some great people working there
Always fun to be the hero with guests.
You get to wear many hats.

    Cons

    Holiday season is a nightmare.
    Poor communication from management.
Pay disparity between internal promotes and outside hires is laughable.
Expected to perform miracles with skeleton crews during the off season.

    Advice to Management

Realize that the people who have moved up internally have a wealth of knowledge about your company and its operation, you should pay them at least on par if not more than outside hires.

    Pros

Some store mangers create a great working environment.

    Cons

Alot of back peddling and flip-flopping.

    Advice to Management

Only ask what you would be willing to do yourself.

I worked at Toys ''R'' Us

    Pros

Worked with a wonderful team of coworkers, lots of flexibility to accommodate lifestyle and personal obligations. Very dynamic workdays in the retail space.

    Cons

The store is not frequently updated and our volume of shoppers was low. It makes it hard to hit metrics when there simply isn't the customer base is very light.

    Advice to Management

Address marketing and positioning of the company within the vertical. An outdated store with a somewhat dreary ambiance isn't going to be appealing to children when trying to drag their parents out to buy them something.

    Pros

Toys R Us is a great company to grow and cross train in other positions with the company.

    Cons

The downside of Toys R Us is the pay scale, even with promotion no increase with money.

    Advice to Management

Advice to management is to have more of an open door policy with associates.

    Pros

Co-workers were easy to get along with. Most everyone if the regular employees and associates worked as a team.

    Cons

Management in the particular store was awful. Very unorganized. You would hear one thing from the assistant manager and then something different from the store manager.

    Advice to Management

Get on the same page, and hire managers who don't act like they have something to prove.

    Pros

Most of the people in the company were great to work with. New President is changing things around- very positive.

    Cons

Management strategies were constantly changing. High turn-over of managers and assistant managers over the years which gave way to a very unstable work environment.

    Advice to Management

Listen to all your employees, not just directors and above. The worker bees have a good perspective of what is happening from the ground level and have great ideas to share.
