I worked at Toys ''R'' Us full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Toys r us forces you to become a good multitasker. Coworkers are usually attractive coeds and potheads. The work is simple but repetitive and neverending. Work with scheduling and are reasonable about time off.

    Cons

You never know what you will be doing from day to day. May be working electronics, changing signs, working register, offloading a truck, resetting an aisle, or even just answering the phone. Metrics based evaluations for cashiers. You can never do enough work for the day, finishing anything just gets you a new task while lazier workers end up doing less work. Management is hit or miss, my store is solid but the district manager is a real curmudgeon.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communication is a train wreck, both between the physical workers and between the computers. Stop focusing so much on surveys. Theres only so much that can be done about metrics.

    Cons

Going up in management is difficult sometimes, depends on location and availability of options to move up.

I worked at Toys ''R'' Us part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Coworkers were friendly and knowledgeable. Hours were fairly flexible.

    Cons

This isn't true for most of the customers, but a few can be incredibly demanding and short tempered. If you don't handle stress well, season can be pretty bad. Corporate has expectations that don't line up with reality at all and management is essentially required to chew you out for not meeting those expectations. Barely any pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your employees better and stop pretending every employee should be selling multiple credit cards a day.

I have been working at Toys ''R'' Us full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible work schedule, vacation and paid leave even for part time employees, employee incentive program pretty sweet, employee discount average

    Cons

Could be a little better with raise incentives, especially for full time employees. Bias towards promotions in store and management opportunities,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your full time employees and long standing employees more. Give store management better control of their stores, less politics, more integrity

I have been working at Toys ''R'' Us full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Toys R Us offers flexible schedules, especially people already working another part time job! The staff is friendly & and always willing to go above and beyond to help one another! And of course, since it is a toy store it is a fun place to work!

    Cons

Outside the Summer & Holiday season it isn't very busy. However it does allow management to engage with employees in more in depth training!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you are dedicated & hard working, then this is the place for you! I started with the company in 2011 as a seasonal employee and within 2 years I was promoted to SRS. 6 months after taking the SRS role I was promoted to Order Management DS. 7 months after starting as the OMDS I transferred to a store 400 miles south & accepted the HRDS position. Currently I have been with my new store for 3 months & love the role I am in. So If your ambitious then you will definitely excel with Toys R Us!
