I worked at Toys ''R'' Us part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Coworkers were friendly and knowledgeable. Hours were fairly flexible.

    Cons

This isn't true for most of the customers, but a few can be incredibly demanding and short tempered. If you don't handle stress well, season can be pretty bad. Corporate has expectations that don't line up with reality at all and management is essentially required to chew you out for not meeting those expectations. Barely any pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your employees better and stop pretending every employee should be selling multiple credit cards a day.

I have been working at Toys ''R'' Us full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible work schedule, vacation and paid leave even for part time employees, employee incentive program pretty sweet, employee discount average

    Cons

Could be a little better with raise incentives, especially for full time employees. Bias towards promotions in store and management opportunities,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your full time employees and long standing employees more. Give store management better control of their stores, less politics, more integrity

I worked at Toys ''R'' Us part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Team uniformity was a plus, the icebreaker/team-building exercises during the interview were actually beneficial.

    Cons

Pretty much everything else, upper management was atrocious, the hours were long and typically they cornered you into staying well into the morning shift. They lock the doors so you can't go on lunch or take smoke breaks.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't promise full-time employment to your temps in the hope that they will work harder for a potential position in the company.

    Pros

    Exceptional people.
    Company is willing to adapt.

    Cons

    Poor Work-life balance.
Lack of appreciation from executive leadership.
Poor pay for Team Members and department supervisors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Executive leadership needs to understand that quality work must be paid for. Team Members do not feel appreciated because they are not paid for how hard they work.
