I have been working at Toys ''R'' Us

    Pros

Very upbeat and exciting to work for, specifically during the holiday season. The training and on boarding process was quick and easy.

    Cons

Very little feedback or development was used after the initial hiring process so you were a little in the dark on your performance.

I worked at Toys ''R'' Us full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The staff and management are friendly and understanding. It was a very positive and fun place to work.

    Cons

Pay was on the low side for mgmt. for what was expected of us. The DM would hire outside the company instead of promoting the management from within. Not all Toys r us operate this way but our region does.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It would be to look at your turnover rate in upper mgmt. and how many of them were from outside the company, Promote from within and pay you mgmt. well and they will in turn stay with your company and drive sales to the fullest potential. Make sure the DM's are aware of the talent that lies within their stores.

I have been working at Toys ''R'' Us part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Fun environment, Good for a high school student looking for part time work. Fun work, Great managers. The interview was a little degrading but other then that it was a good experience.

    Cons

the interview was a little degrading, the lunch shifts were short and there isnt anywhere to eat around. Other then that the job was easy, not challenging,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would recommend giving longer lunches since there isnt anywhere close to eat and not many people bring there lunch from home. Especially if they are working full time.

I have been working at Toys ''R'' Us full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I know the good deals. It's a pretty simple job as far as knowing what you need to do.

    Cons

Not enough time to finish my assigned tasks, and the pay definitely needs to be higher considering a lot of hard work goes into it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

For the PSTM position the pay needs to be higher. I work too hard to be making $7.34. Also, I need more time to finish tasks. Once we open I'm coverage and can't finish my assigned work.

can be a fun environment if you have a strong team

    Cons

    pay scale
    minimal once a year raises
    no work life balance
loss of vacation timed earned if you quit
    high turnover
    holiday pay only on Thanksgiving

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want high quality employees, then compensate them accordingly. Treat the employees better and you will have a better team.

I have been working at Toys ''R'' Us full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Do like most of the employees and customers. Easy to talk to people about the product.

    Cons

The greatest challenge is trying to complete your daily and weekly goals with little or no help. There is high expectations but no hours given to implement them all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Decide what is really important. Metrics and goals are great but most are not reasonable with the few hours given.
