I have been working at Toys ''R'' Us part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

If you like children, you'll like this job. Getting paid overtime and time and half during season, and flexibility with your schedule.

    Cons

Not enough pay and the hours aren't steady. Not enough raises. Every week they change! For a lot of the front-end cashiers, we're pressured to make metrics which include warranties, credit cards, and Reward cards.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Leadership needs to be part of the team as well. They should be the ones setting the example about working as a team instead of sitting in the manager's office barking orders.

I have been working at Toys ''R'' Us part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Started as seasonal and was asked to stay on.
If you work hard then you get hours. Simple as that!
Slack off and you don't get any hours or lose your job. The choice is yours.
Management looks out for the people who ask questions, work hard, don't call in sick, and give that little extra.

    Cons

Very little training coming out of season.
Starting pay minimum wage, even with several years of retail experience (experience does not matter, I was told I had no experience with this company)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider starting pay at more than minimum wage (especially for people with experience in retail) (ever try to live on $7.93 an hour?)
Set aside time in the schedule for PK, R-learnings (as part of the truck crew, boh there doesn't seem to be any time to get these done on time)

I worked at Toys ''R'' Us as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

If you enjoy a large company, old technology and talking about other coworkers. Also, if you enjoy putting blame on others for your slack.

    Cons

Old technology. Gossipy environment. Many miserable data entry workers. Old computers/tables/facilities. No understanding of the creative environment and the right way to market and promote their multitude of merchandise.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have 13 billion dollars in revenue. Invest in your technology and hire creative and innovative minds that are not treated like robots.
