I worked at TracFone full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

+ The CIO has a huge vision for where he wants to be.
    + Great company benefits
+ Within each team, you will fill secure and taken care of. If you play nicely..

I loved this company when I started here. The first two years of working here was a breeze and a dream. I had amazing managers and great co workers. Within the last year, things have gone a little haywire. There was a lot more politics once you move out of the world of IT Ops (which is no longer IT Ops really). I loved my co workers throughout my time there.

    Cons

+ A lot of politics - you have to know who you can speak to, when you can speak to them, and how. If you don't get with the politics, you will drown.
+ You have to play nicely with others even when they don't play nicely with you.
+ Don't expect this to be just a job - it's a life. You will work overtime, you will work some weekends.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Managers need to motivate their employees more. Within the last year, the lack of motivation is making people look outside the organization. There isn't a lot of incentive to work nights, weekends, and push yourself to the max if you're not getting a lot of praise of compensation for it.

I have been working at TracFone (less than an year)

    Pros

You need to be in office from 8 AM to 7 PM in the Office is expected to stay long hours some times till 11 PM or might be next day will continue the work, more than 26 hrs or more your in office. SOA / Integration / Portal team thinks you don't have any other life other than this.

    Cons

If your time is not good, then you will choose this Company. Spl in SOA / Integration / Portal area are worst.
No time lines for any project. Business people don't know the technical involvement / difficulty and Technical people don't know real functionality i.e Developer knows only 10 -15%, might be leads know more than that, but they don't share with Developers. After dead line or deploy into prod, end user is going to open the tickets or defects.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is no management hierarchy in this company and you need to please them always any time and any where.

I have been working at TracFone full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Salary, benefits, insurance are somewhat OK.

    Cons

Too much gossip, back-stabbing, obstacles to work, emails to read/respond, and most of all a whole lot of people trying to make others look bad so they look good.

Projects are ALWAYS behind schedule because of unreal timelines. Perennial crunch time. Get ready to work on weekends. If you are an IT consultant or a PMO, get ready to be exploited/abused/enslaved until someone gets bored of you. It's suicide. A no-no.

HR is a joke; oppressive to the weak, and acquiescent to the powerful. Put your pants on and learn something from the moralist CIO please!

Managers have a pride competition and they are all winning. Humiliation world war and blame-game among them.

If you are Mexican you'll have a powerful and supportive groups of friends. If you are an attractive woman, your chances of success are much higher.

IT Leadership is a well-intended leader but a moralist with a therapeutic complex. His idealist conflict resolution technique may look effective but causes even more antagonism; but you won't tell him because he'll shut you up with a huge smile and purported optimism.

    Pros

Decent pay and bonuses. Friendly atmosphere.

    Cons

Don't expect to be promoted. Most positions are filled with outside candidates. Internal promotions seem to happen only to those "connected" to upper management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to the serious interdepartmental fighting.

    Pros

Finally there is a new leader and the start of leadership accountability. If only others would follow and learn what good leadership is. Watch and learn. Fingers crossed for their success

    - good food cafeteria
    - growing company
    - fast paced
    - good peers

    Cons

Political, leadership needs to learn how to manage. Building is overflowing because of growth and parking is tight

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on the people that work hard for you. Stop pointing fingers and work together. Look at the new example you have to learn what good management is all about.
