Former Employee – worked at Trader Joe's
Pros – Great Company with good values and great product. Fun people to work with.
Cons – Very, very hard work. Extremely physically demanding, 10 hour + days and mind numbing. Lead a section, make a list, go to cramped over-packed stockroom, get product, fill section, repeat for the next 8 hours. If making a mountain of 60 pound sacks of potatoes, onions or other produce is part of your passion then this is the job for you.
The values are not 100% in the teams heart. Customer service is of paramount importance but the NYC store employees think they are too busy to provide customer service.
Advice to Senior Management – "Too busy" is not a license to not stop and think of better, more efficient ways to work and to motivate/inform your teams.

Pros – Best supermarket to work for - always having fun with employees and customers.
Cons – The work isn't easy, and you'll be tired at the end of an 8 or 10 hr (with overtime) day.
Advice to Senior Management – Raise salaries a little

Current Employee – been working at Trader Joe's
Pros – The pay is great, benefits are great. The food and co-workers and customers are also benefits of working at TJ's.
Cons – Bureaucracy. Also, it is difficult to get organized feedback from the managers except in the two review periods. I want day to day feedback!
Advice to Senior Management – Continue to advance the great product line and name of TJ's!

Former Employee – worked at Trader Joe's
Pros – LOVED LOVED LOVED making signs. The people are fun, always happy. Nothing to complain, great customer service.
Cons – No other way to advance in company if you want to just do art. Not Trader Joe's fault, just a downside to working there.
Advice to Senior Management – leadership could allow the artist more creativity.

Current Employee – been working at Trader Joe's
Pros – Biannual reviews. Big crew member team. No seniority. Flexible hours. Outstanding benefits. Cross training provided. Employee discount. Mostly friendly customers.
Cons – Unfair reviews. Favoritism played. No seniority. Management with bad leadership skills. Seasonal work. Constantly scrutinized. Regional Manager is no help.
Advice to Senior Management – Positive reinforcement.Give improvement advice throughout the year not just at review time. Schedule fairly.Quit favoritism. Lead by example. Try harder!

Current Employee – been working at Trader Joe's
Pros – -Great health benefits
-Good for students, as a second job
-Fast paced environment, eclectic crew
-Workday varies between floor work and register
Cons – -Turnaround shifts!
-Store politics-- some people don't deserve the credit they get, and nobody in management puts them in their place
Advice to Senior Management – Recognize hard work, and note that the most charismatic individual may not be the most valuable to the crew. This should be reflected in reviews.
