I have been working at Trader Joe's
Pros – Great Benefits for part time employees, 10% discount off purchases of all store goods. Generally nice clientele and co-workers. Performance reviews twice a year.
Cons – Management seems to cut hours most seasons, says they will not hire new folks during seasons when extra help is needed, so they can give more hours to current employees. Sadly, new folks appeared and many folks who work only part time did not get additional hours. Some Crew members felt that they were mislead by management.
Management is always interested in feedback, but lacks the discipline to stick to a plan to fix the issues that come up in feedback from the crew.
Advice to Senior Management – Don't waste time and resources on gathering data from the crew only to ignore the plan you come up with. Fix the issues that you wanted to hear about in the first place. Closely look at your store leadership; some full time employees are total do-nothings that create problems with morale by being so obvious about their inability to do anything but bark orders at part timers and stand around and talk.
