    Pros

Good benefits and great people surround you to get your work done. Great management team to help support your needs and ability to work with new technology and tier 1 customers on a regular basis

    Cons

No real rewards or bonus type structure. Merit increases have been minimal over the last few years due to the revenue performance of the company and at times seem to be under resourced.

    Advice to Management

    rewards and headcount

I have been working at Transaction Network Services full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Located on the water so you have a great view

    Cons

Parent company does not know what direction they want to go and most decisions are self-serving to the Individual decision maker. Constantly under Lay off threats Worse than skeleton crew, many areas have only one employee, thus you are on call 24x7x365, even when on vacation you MUST carry your Cell phone and laptop and respond to tickets. No bonuses, substandard 401K match, No Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Expensive medical benefits and if spouse can be covered by their job, they must be. No education allowances even though they claim there are. Employee reviews are a joke.

    Advice to Management

    Wouldn't listen anyway

I worked at Transaction Network Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

none that I can think of off the top of my head

    Cons

My division was sold to TNS from Verisign. Once TNS took over the entire culture changed the only reason I stayed was the people I worked with. TNS eventually replaced us for half the cost and a quarter of the talent. We still had to do our job and back our replacements up with the stuff they to date still can't do

    Advice to Management

    Hire Verisign management

I have been working at Transaction Network Services full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Decent pay, benefits aren't what they used to be but still good. There are some really good people left who still care.

    Cons

We keep changing upper level mgmt yet nothing is improving. Constant fear of job loss. Many good people forced into wrong positions and looking to leave. No accountability from the top down. We have leaders who continue to fail in assigned duties and rather than be fired they are just moved to different positions over and over. We continue to allow people to work in a bubble and not support the One TNS vision.

    Advice to Management

Hold yourself and your employes accountable. Take control back and fight for the employees who have made this company what is it. Get rid of those who refuse to operate as one. If they aren't supporting One TNS by now they never will.

There are lots of talented people here. Too bad they're all caught up in the politics of the work place.

    Pros

Very relaxed work environment. Some very smart people are here.

    Cons

Insane politics. It is really frustrating and hinders the ability to work. Most people are too scared to do anything significant. Acquired by people who have no interest in their employees.

    Advice to Management

Focus on the employees who want to build the best product they can, and the rest will follow.

I worked at Transaction Network Services full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Located in Reston, which was convenient for the commute. Friendships developed with my ex-colleagues

    Cons

Belonging to Private Equity. The PE firm that bought us, Siris, is not motivated to invest in capable senior management or in new areas of growth. The company is stuck in legacy business and won't invest in new growth areas. Half of the management was looking for jobs elsewhere, and the other half is frightened to make decisions.

    Advice to Management

Split the company in three…Payments, Telecom and Financial. There is no synergy between the three…so let the three go off on their own. The Telecom section where I worked would blossom by itself and with energetic and new management that understands mobile technology. The latest CEO change is not enough. Hopefully they are looking for a permanent replacement instead of leaving a care-taker. If nothing changes, people will continue to leave. People do not want to stay somewhere that is slowly dying.
