    Pros

Good Stock and 401K options, Friday afternoons half day.

Long work days with overwhelming global supply chain issues at every point. Several out of date systems that bog work flow. Heavy debt issues with vendors struggling as much as department staffers.

    Cons

    haven't given a raise in 2 years.
hard to arrange a transfer from rig to rig.
raised cost of benefits while lowering actual benefits.
blanket approach to problems rather than addressing the issue individually.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Transocean

    Pros

Meeting people as I travel throughout the world.

    Cons

As with any company there are downsides. For Transocean it depends on your job. If you are in Projects, as I currently am, then you sacrifice time away from your family as 90% of you job will be on location. There are times when your family can visit, but there are projects that can be in remote and even dangerous parts of the world (i.e. Nigeria) that can drag out for six months to a year. Another down side for working with Transocean is the nature of the industry. Currently the industry can not hire people fast enough, but there will be a time when the market corrects itself and we could have a repeat of the 80's, early 2000's, but I guess this can be said for other industries.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To be more open with information that will effect staff.

I have been working at Transocean full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Their salary package at the moment is still an industry leader. I have been with the company for quite a few years & know a lot of the management.

    Cons

Human resources have no concept of what we do or how we do it. Employees are simply pawns in their management game.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go back 5 years ago. Move out of Switzerland all employees know this is simply a Tax Dodge who ever heard of an International Deep water Drilling Contractor based in a land locked country. it shows what the company has become a financial company that happens to own oil rigs.
