Pros
Excellent work-life balance
Freedom to try new things, create new or different views of analysis
My specific management is excellent, but it is definitely disparate as to effectiveness of leadership across the company
Cons
Can be extremely slow-moving across the enterprise
Nepotism is definitely prevalent both in hiring and advancement opportunities
Merit pool is always the first place to find budget cuts
Advice to Senior Management
Ensure that top performers are rewarded with compensation
It is very commendable that you look to hold benefits-packages cost neutral year over year for the lower pay-band employees - this needs to continue
Pros
Benefits, Competitive Pay, Opportunities to advance
Cons
Political at times. Some complacency
Advice to Senior Management
Pay for performance.
Pros
Easy, great pay for an intern
Cons
Boring a lot of the times they didn't have much for us to do as interns
Pros
Pay. Training. 401k. Health care expensive here vs. last employer.
Cons
Poor local management talent. Promotions and annual reviews not based on results. No consistency in evaluation across organization, leaving local management to arbitrary decisions on pay and performance evaluation. Top leadership wastes money on stock buy-backs. Good if you're Jay Fishman- bad for stockholders and employees (ie, no reinvestment in employees and service).
Advice to Senior Management
Practice what you preach - base reviews, pay and severance decisions on performance.
Pros
Benefits package 401k salary is ok
Cons
Expectations that are impossible to meet. Work / family time is way out of balance. "good old boys club". Promotions for women almost non existent. Only younger males have a change for advancement even if a women has more experience. More and more experienced emps are jumping ship to other companies
Advice to Senior Management
Look around you! There is obviously something very wrong! You are all out of touch with who gets you those huge salaries and bonuses. ( the you don't share with the "real emps " that bust their buns everyday with not even a thank you ( that is if you don't count a catered lunch for the 16 hrs days that you have been working)
Pros
Benefits , PTO, that is about all I can say. Get rid of all upper management that have no experience
Cons
Managers do not have the experience they think they do
Advice to Senior Management
Wise up and respect the knowledge and experiece of others
Pros
competitive pay and benefits
solid financial company
Cons
too many irons in the fire and constantly trying to change everything. Can't decide on consistent direction
Pros
stable and conservative company helps you trust that management will maintain the company's profitability in all situations. job is secure as long as you are productive
Cons
hard to advance as it's very old fashioned and goes by years of experience and age instead of talent and ability
Advice to Senior Management
put more time into searching for talent and when you find top talent, be pro active in helping them ascend into leadership positions.
Pros
- More than fair compensation.
- Many open positions across the country and globally.
- Substantial variety in terms of business units and functions.
- Crossing business units is possible, networking is key for movement.
Cons
- No work/life balance.
- Expectations are unreasonable.
- Politics is considered FAR more than competence or abilities.
- Favoritism is VAST and extremely unfair.
- Upper management "pretends" to push rewards and recognition and pay for performance, however when it's time to compensate, nothing results.
- Lack of understanding between individual contributors and management.
Pros
company allows flexibility and benefits too good to pass up
Cons
vacation time not too good if new employee but able to get paid time off, interviews took long
Advice to Senior Management
listen to employees
