    Pros

Good benefits, well compensated, nice co workers

    Cons

Upper management very arrogant, suspect that underhanded tactics were used to make adjusters feel uncomfortable so they would quit when a department was not showing a profit.

    Advice to Management

If you tell your employees to be ethical, you should practice what you preach.

    Pros

Good benefits and great work environment. Loved going into work everyday. I enjoyed working with others and benefits were substantially better than competitors.

    Cons

Office space can be small at times but overall no major complaints. Large amounts of traffic getting to and from work.

    Advice to Management

Always give credit to everyone even the lowest people. If they do they work always show them they can move up.

    Pros

Good benefits and decent pay are not worth the stress

    Cons

Customer Service Managers seek revenge if you go over their heads. The management team is a click so if one Manager has a problem with you they all have a problem with you.

    Advice to Management

Clean house and hire managers who have Managerial experience who can coach and give positive feedback instead of tearing down the employees confidence.

    Pros

Every single person I've encountered at Travelers have been wonderful. They are kind and gracious of your time regardless of your position or theirs for that matter.

    Cons

I have absolutely nothing negative to say about Travelers. So far, management has been the best I've ever worked for.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing. Your class and appreciation for every employee really shows and has to pay off in the long run.

    Pros

Worked with at Travelers for 17 years of which I received pay increases and support from my field manager.

    Cons

No cons from my perspective except for being laid off when they consolidated the work to their home office.

    Advice to Management

Advice to all big business that tends to take the work out of the country... who's going to buy the products made in other countries when people don't have a decent wage to purchase those goods when they come back to the U.S.?

  8. Solid company with successful track record...respected throughout the property & casualty industry.

    Pros

Outstanding people in trenches. Collaborative work environment outside home office. Strong brand identification and reputation.

    Cons

Vague and inconsistent incentive (bonus) program. Values/priorities relative to workspace, expenses and aging workforce not employee-friendly.

    Advice to Management

"Management" and "Leadership" are not interchangeable. Shift priorities from self-advancement to development and recognition of subordinates.

  9. Great company to work for. They treat their employees fairly and the benefits package was great.

    Pros

    Good benefits packages and PTO

    Cons

Worked with people who were set in their ways due to working the same job for 20+ years.

    Advice to Management

Hire younger, creative people if you want to keep up with today's culture and technology.

    Pros

The position is salaried, and after a year, you will are able to apply for other positions within the company. You are not guaranteed a promotion, but colleagues are helpful and genuinely have a sense of community. Sales is much better than Customer Service; Underwriting is difficult and underpaid. Sales is the route to take.

    Cons

In the beginning, I felt that my position was one where I would be empowered to truly put the customer first, and I was disappointed this was not the case. You will be measured on your efficiency for bonuses, and they prefer speed to quality in terms of customer service, despite what you are told. Management did not communicate with one another well, and you have no room to negotiate, whether its the salary, or your hours.

    Advice to Management

Be more upfront in the interview, advise candidates they will spend 8 hours + a day on the phone, and communicate with one another better.
