    Pros

great insurance underwriting business program for trainees. amazing analytical and leadership strategies that help you grow and develop in a rewarding and challenging work environment. interesting and challenging dialogue with seniors and a mentor environment by most managers. great opportunity for growth and learning within the company and very flexible with their schedule and vacation and benefits.

    Cons

top management gets paid alot more than younger and lower level employees in the company. stringent and redundant analysis techniques that need to be improved. long meeting which have nothing to do with day to day operations. rather managers just reminding themselves what they have to themselves for the day.

    Advice to Management

    Pay trainees more

    Pros

Great benefits and flexiblilty of virtual office set up

    Cons

Corporate structure promotes a "Cover You Ass" environment where the field adjusters always take the heat.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the old people and corporate suck ups. Bring in people that really care about your policy holders and what is best for them.

    Pros

the pay and benefits are above average for the industry. this is what atttracted me to the position.

    Cons

micro management, impossible workloads and unrealistic requirements(2 hour contact, constant reviews and audits). Turnover is unreal and a quick look at the major internet job sites will show they are always hiring.. RED FLAG!!

    Advice to Management

hire more people, back down on all the file reviews. Let the adjusters do their jobs. And 2 hour contact ? Come on.

    Pros

Travelers offers competitive pay and job security. Travelers is also a great place to work because of the people. It was rare, if it happened at all, that people lost their jobs at Travelers. Job security allows people to focus on their task rather than worry if they will be given a box and a pink slip.

    Cons

One downside is that Travelers will probably never be the forerunner of the insurance industry. Management heavy like most large companies.

    Advice to Management

Need to have some cutbacks in your area.

    Pros

Fair Pay. Excellent benefits and time off.

    Cons

Little opportunity to move within the company to different areas...

    Advice to Management

Pay 401k match at least quarterly...rather than just once a year

    Cons

that sometime they dont show that they care about their lower employee.

    Advice to Management

try to show that you care about all your employee

    Pros

Travelers is well capitalized and is a relatively stable company for which to work. Advancement from entry level positions is common and supported.

    Cons

Travelers is a very large employer and can at times be bureaucratic. Pay and benefits are less generous than those offered by peer companies.

    Advice to Management

What was once a very flat and nimble organization has become encumbered by the growth in matrix management. Despite an expressed focus on innovation and production, it appears that many stakeholdershave surrounded themselves with "yes men" and expend alot of energy on protecting their positions when they should be working on growing the business. Failure to quickly integrate legacy St. Paul business has hurt the expense ratio. Maintaining "home offices" in St. Paul and Hartford does not seem to make economic sense.

    Pros

The best reason is expanding your skill set. Travelers will do whatever they can to make you better and make them money!

    Cons

They are a what have you done for me in the last 10 minutes kind of company. You could be the best new business Account Executive for 3 straight years and the first time your numbers slip they quickly forget the past and beat you up until you either quit or get fired.

    Advice to Management

There needs to be less of you! It seems that there is 1 managing director for every 5 employees and many of these managers are just managers and have no real underwriting experience.

Great benefits, matching 401 up to 5% , pension, and good pay. Plenty of room for promotion. They let you work with min supervision. A great place to work, the people are friendly and the work atmosphere is great. You wont a company with such great benefits and still pay above the avg.

    Cons

too many offshore folks working for Travelers lets hire more AMERICANS

    Advice to Management

They are going a good job looking out for us
