Pros
You get the flexibility and autonomy to work to your best potential with little oversight. In addition the atmosphere is first rate.
Cons
I think the salaries can be more competitive to the other companies in the industry. Being a smaller company, there needs to be incentive.
Pros
Lots of opportunities to try new things and gain experience
Chances to work with customers from day one
Great work environment
Great people to work with
Cons
It's still work even if it is engaging
Long hours are required on some projects
Travel can get tiring over time
Pros
Work while you work and play while you play !! Yes work is expected out of the employees, but on the other hand if you do your work properly you are sure to succeed in this company, its simple and straight forward. You are free to propose / implement your ideas to the senior people and they will listen/ accept if you are able to convince them. All in all a great place to be if you like what you are doing.
Cons
Sometimes you need to face unexpected situations and you are challenged by your supervisor (you have to be agile enough to tackle any situation).
Advice to Senior Management
Senior management have always been supportive of their employees. Hiring process should be more competitive. challenging and people with interest should be hired.
Pros
The salary and benefits are good and TriTek employees are intelligent and enthusiastic about sharing information and working together.
Cons
Consulting involves a lot of travel and can be difficult at times if traveling is not preferred.
Pros
Coming out of college, I was afraid I would be working for an "office space" type company, especially being a comp sci grad. However, I was pleasantly surprised by TriTek; there is very little pretense and bureaucracy. I was given a lot of responsibility fairly quickly, and I was able to contribute to the decision making process on projects. In addition to being able to work for many clients and gain valuable experience, you also get to work with a team of knowledgeable co workers, and draw upon their years of experience. While there is a management structure, the company is very horizontal; it is not uncommon to work side by side or have drinks with "upper management".
Cons
TriTek is not the place for someone who is looking for a highly structured and static work environment. If you want your opinion to matter, you need to speak up and assert yourself. TriTek is a consulting company, and meeting deadlines for clients is an important part of business; there are sometimes long hours, but the satisfaction of completing a project is worth it.
Pros
You have a lot of autonomy in your work, no one micro-managing you.
Cons
As a growing company we need to work on communication and policy. What worked for a 30 person company does not work when that same company is reaching 100 people.
Pros
TriTek is a laid back company. Management is very sensitive to work life balance. As long as the work gets done, they won’t stress about the hours you are working (biggest pro in my opinion). The skills you learn will make you extremely valuable in the broader market after only a few years of employment. (I’m currently making 80% more than my starting salary at a new employer thanks to only a few years experience at TriTek). Many great co-workers and the founders are great people to work for.
Cons
Compensation is on the weak side. The company continues remains solidly in the black but uses the economy as an excuse to suppress salary increases. Promotions are based on personal favoritism. Teacher’s pets tend to get ahead. Very little professionalism. Poor quality employees sneak under the radar. General project management is unstructured and TriTek does not follow best practices when it comes to a project life cycle (“just get it done” attitude). This can lead to poor quality work.
Advice to Senior Management
In general, employees should be compensated better. Also, although the laid back atmosphere is nice, do not sacrifice accountability for it. It makes competent employees frustrated.
Pros
Great small company culture, very collaborative, with direct access to senior management; VERY smart and hardworking people who prioritize the success of the project and the company over the success of any particular individual; flexibility is expected and given; virtually no bureaucracy and no annoying rules to get in your way; individual initiative is expected and appreciated; telecommuting is possible; good benefits
Cons
Need to spend time maintaining servers and other infrastructure, and generally take on administrative tasks, since there are not a lot of people responsible for those things; travel can be intense; training is mostly do-it-yourself; gender balance is nonexistent; compensation isn't as high as it should be
Advice to Senior Management
Keep the company growing and make sure to reward good performers well; don't be afraid to cull underperformers
Pros
friendly, supportive corporate culture; great variety of work experiences; challenging work; active knowledge sharing and easy access to senior technical experts within the company; emphasis on personal and professional growth; great benefits (401k match, tuition reimbursement, flex spending, comp time, flex hours); annual bonus paid to all employees if the company meets its annual targets
Cons
sometimes long hours are required to complete a project on time; the travel requirements can be intense so you should be prepared for that;
Advice to Senior Management
more frequent communication to junior staff about business strategy and direction
Pros
Very relaxed office. Everyone is chill, the dress code is flexible. Snacks and drinks are provided. There aren't cubicles anywhere, most employees get their own office or share larger ones with one or two others.
The employees are very smart and competent. There is a Q&A system and a company wiki to share and distribute information among the employees. There is an online training program that takes a week or two to get new employees started, but really most of what people learn is from their coworkers.
Management is friendly, they eat lunch with employees sometimes and are approachable and intelligent.
Benefits are great, compensation is pretty good (I haven't done that much comparison, but I certainly don't feel underpaid).
Cons
Sometimes you are not given enough information about your work and the job can be too unstructured. It's hard to predict where you'll be working and what you'll be working on in the future, management gives you very short notice when they give you assignments.
Also, if you don't like travel then Tritek is definitely not for you. Many employees never make it into the office because they are constantly working for a client in another state. It can make it. At the same time, management is sensitive to employees needs and will accommodate you by letting you work remotely or work for clients that demand less travel.
Advice to Senior Management
Mangement is overall great, but I just think keeping their employees a little more in the loop and checking in on their progress to help and give approval, criticism, or guidance would do a lot.
