I worked at Tribal DDB as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Hands down the best reason to be here is the people. On the whole (there are always exceptions) people were friendly and there was a nice energy to the place. Top creative leads very approachable.

    Cons

Creative suffers greatly because account has no balls (again there are exceptions to this rule). Too often work is dictated by clients who have no creative sense. The result is that you will not be proud of your work--nothing for your book.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to sort out your creative vs account conundrum. work is too often prescriptive, dictated by clients who don't know s**t about creative.

I worked at Tribal DDB as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

They have huge clients and very talented art directors. The AON building is convenient.

    Cons

No concept of the world of interactive development but pretend like they know what they're talking about. Actually asked me to do things the wrong way just to meet a deadline.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make digital a priority, not an after thought. It's 2013.

Feels like DDB is behind the scenes pulling the strings.

    Pros

Good perks, free bagels, free snacks from time to time, happy hour Wednesdays, laid back arrival time

    Cons

Horrible management, no one communicates down the levels of knows what they are doing, projects are handed off with flash drives, nothing is maintained via basecamp, things are not made clear.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take management classes, developed a clear system that works from high level down to freelance

I worked at Tribal DDB full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Matt Freeman was an exceptional CEO and under his leadership, Tribal couldn't be beat. I met some of the best professionals I've ever met in my career and worked on great brands.

    Cons

Everything has fallen apart since 2008-2009. The flagship Chicago office is all but gone, and NY is notorious for being a horrible place to work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change upper management., not just at Tribal but at DDB as well.
