Employee Centric Company

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Trican Well Service as a contractor for less than a year

ProsGreat employee centric culture. They really try to accommodate work life balance. Employees are generally friendly, and have a good attitude.

ConsStill getting their arms around international operations tend to be a little too "Canada" focused. Decision making is a bit slow for project work.

Parts Clerk (Former Employee)

ProsGreat pay, excellent benefits and a place to stay until you find a place to live.

ConsPoor management and communication. You are only allowed 4 months at the man camp.

A fair place to work. Politics at its best

Engineer (Former Employee)
Fort Worth, TX

I worked at Trican Well Service full-time for more than a year

ProsSmall company. Lots of room for concessions.

ConsPolitics rule, more than merit or anything else. You're wrong if you expect your office to help, they only exist to bury you in paperwork and complain; hardly ever to recognize a good work. Don't expect to grow if you're out the circle.

Advice to Senior ManagementIt's not hard to see where favoritism and retaliation is ... if you just bothered to look

Great people to work for and with.

Operator (Current Employee)
Mill Hall, PA

I have been working at Trican Well Service

ProsGood bosses. Fast advancement (I was hired early in this branches developement). Great benefits. Decent wages. Great attitude of coworkers. My best job ever.

ConsLong hours for someone not used to it. Only have two customers at this location so far so there is shop time occasionally which sucks. Not making the amount of money (annually) that I was told I would be making when I was hired.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe two men in charge are great leaders, but they made a lot of promises when hiring that havent come true, which is unfortunate because it wasnt neccessary. Also, its frustrating that the workers who do the most complaining and who are the least liked by fellow employees are getting the best pay and fastest advancement. Squeeky wheel gets the lube kind of thing. The guys who show up everyday and do their jobs well without asking for or complaining about anything are getting looked over.

Good Company

Technical Specialist (Current Employee)
Calgary, AB (Canada)

I have been working at Trican Well Service full-time for more than 5 years

ProsGreat environment, flexible work, fun coworkers

ConsHours suck, gotta move out of the department to move up, no structure, doesnt move very fast.

Advice to Senior Management"we are nimble and move quickly"? either that value needs to be removed or we need to be quicker.

Unorganized, but some real great people

Technical Trainee (Former Employee)
Red Deer, AB (Canada)

I worked at Trican Well Service as an intern for less than a year

ProsI worked with some awesome people and learned a ton, but I had to pull teeth sometimes to get that information out of people. If you're pro-active and reach out you can learn a lot.

ConsDangerous field working conditions, a lot of rougher types in the field. Poor language, lack of respect.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe growing pains of the company are evident, more structures systems need to be in place, and current policies need better enforcement.

less than stellar

Cement Bulk Hauler (Former Employee)
Lloydminster, SK (Canada)

I worked at Trican Well Service full-time for less than a year

ProsTraining from head office was pretty good. Benefits are good, especially the dental coverage. The image and branding of the company is well thought out.

ConsThe training from head office was mostly textbook with only 1 hour of hands-on training. the expectation of the Branches are that the new employee is fully trained from head office. some supervisors do not want to continue ongoing training.

Advice to Senior Managementjust because someone is " signed off " on a position, does not mean they know everything and the supervisors should be continually coaching the workers. Yelling should not be part of the coaching process.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
