    Pros

    Free parking, close to home,

    Cons

The work environment is set up to encourage a task oriented process rather than the use of the nursing process. This is a very bad place for a new grad to start out. Although a new grad will learn how to juggle many things at one time. The staff is confused as to the difference between uncontrolled and sometimes deliberate chaos vs high acuity. There is very little team work in my location of the hospital, even to the point where if your patient has a change in medical condition you may be on your own to provide a good safe standard of care. I was advised not to work here due to the "reputation" in the community, but I really thought I could make a difference, But you can't help those who don't know there is a problem.

    Advice to Management

Your foundation is on a fault line. It will crack! Take pride in your institution, hold staff who are not following the standards accountable. Eating in the patient care area and fake nails on staff members are unsafe practices. You need to really look at safe staff patient ratios. 16 pts for one tech and 6 pts to 1 Rn on day shift too impossible to give good care. I'm in shock there are not more falls. Think about cleaning out most of managers and start fresh.

I have been working at Trident Medical Center

    Pros

I'm a people person and love working with different people. I always maintained a personal friendship with my patients and they always complimented on how I treated them so much better than most of other co-workers. I also liked the fact that you could create your own work schedule and it wasn't so much of a hassle when you needed to call-out

    Cons

No upward movement at all. I had more experience and continually received praise for my work, but never wanted to advance me. Co-workers who weren't EVEN in MY FIELD OF WORK, where able to advance above me, which I thought was unfair.

    Advice to Management

When you have a worker wo WANTS to go the extra mile and advance, give them a chance!!
