I have been working at Trident Seafoods as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

Working for Trident in a daily wage position offers great opportunities for learning and advancement. Especially working in Alaska, it's beautiful and you get to be right in the heart of some of that beauty.

    Cons

You're on a boat for for extended periods of time with the same people. There is very limited opportunities to connect with people back home (no internet, no cell service).

I have been working at Trident Seafoods as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

Really good knowledgeable people running the show considering how much they have to deal with daily. Honest pay, fair working conditions, and great treatment. You go there to work, and that's the extent of it. They feed you very very well, have laundry, super hot water, a really cool store, plenty of breaks, they don't dog a person all day long, they show care, and concern to anyone that is sick, have a great medical staff, the kitchen staff are super friendly, and I'm sure there is room for advancement, and it's amazing what they accomplish so far from the mainland:-)

    Cons

Rain, snow, long hours, uncomfortable matresses

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give carpenters their own area to bunk separate from the processors:-) get me back

    Pros

The there are no good reasons to work for this company. 20 word minimum? Okay...blah, blah, blah, blah, blah!!!

    Cons

Untrained, disrespectful, staff is rampant in Akutan. Read lawsuits against Trident for contamination in the sea, assaults by staff, etc...on the internet. Please do your homework really good before taking a nasty and despicable work environment at Trident!!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go back to your own country and stop treating we Americans like we owe you everything!!!

I have been working at Trident Seafoods full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

This is a company that allows you to take ownership for the work you do which instills pride among employees. Growth and independent thinking is encouraged.

    Cons

Cell phones and email accessability makes the work life balance a challenge- just like every other company out there. Lots of employee discounts. Pay isn't the best out there, but the benefits- health, 401k, product discounts, and coworkers more than make up for it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management is benefitting from moving away from the "old boys club" of the fishing industry to a more modern perspective. Management needs to continue to stay in tune to the pulse of their employees. This will give them more insight into the industry and their customer base than any marketing survey or study will.
