I have been working at Trippe Manufacturing full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The environment is relaxed yet professional. No idea is a bad one and creativity is welcomed. Casual attire and start times, relaxed management style and location are a plus. Great health insurance, cheaper than anyone I know!

    Cons

The company would benefit from more structure and an emphasis on efficiency. Vacation time could be more generous. A long term plan, clearly communicated to the troops would help with morale.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Share goals and expectations with department heads. If your desire is to keep headcount low, improve systems and processes to support the existing staff and business. Offer professional development programs focused on improving management skills and employee growth.

    Pros

    Beer Fridays
    Generous Cash Payouts Randomly
    Christmas Party
    Summer BBQ
I am really trying to come up with Pro's...seriously I am

    Cons

    Management
    Small Minded Family Run Business
    Location
Qualification of senior management in various departments
Resources given to succeed vs the competition in this space
It's a technology company that runs internally as a 1950's company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think they need to be honest and in the evaluation of talent hired at the management position. There are revolving doors at most positions but nothing is learned when these people leave. They usually are replaced with some random family member from a different department that isn't equipped to handle the work load or have the industry experience.

    Pros

Company provided reasonable priced products the market it service. It worked at growing the breath of its product line to meet upcoming market needs. This strategic effort kept the company moving forward which gave job opportunity.

    Cons

Every company has its culture. As with all jobs be sure you fit the culture before accepting the job.

    I worked at Trippe Manufacturing

    Pros

Good compensation as long as performance meets/exceeds expectation. Highly profitable company. Starting to invest in key management positions with high-level qualifications.
Very laid back environment, for the most part.

    Cons

Highly political (old-school and long-time family groups vs. newer, more enlightened hires).
Not leaders, but followers in this commodity market place (reverse engineer and produce cheaper).
Personnel slow to embrace change and technology, if at all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upgrade (experience outside of Trippe) sales and marketing senior managers--and listen to them. Too many departments and people are not pushed nor managed to give their full and best efforts. Invest in better systems and reinforce the support for them (and requirement to use them).

    I worked at Trippe Manufacturing

    Pros

It used to be "An American Original".

    Cons

As some values in this country, like the USD depreciation, the spirit in the company declined. Besides manufacturing, it outsourced middle management to some weird personality from nowhere. As a result: bla-bla, bean counting and ...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

In a relatively small company knowledge of field warrior activity could be easy achieved first hand.

    I worked at Trippe Manufacturing

    Pros

Employees are given a lot of responsibility and encouraged to learn on the job.

    Cons

Management could use better focus and organization - were constantly changing their minds on the direction of projects.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to think through a project critically before wasting employee time that could be spent more productively elsewhere for greater results to the company's bottom line.

I have been working at Trippe Manufacturing

    Pros

Annual company picnic, holiday party & other outings. Regular bonuses. Management that I experienced are capable and willing to listen.

    Cons

Nepotism makes it difficult to get promoted, but not impossible. Office location is not desireable if you live in the city.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at other employees instead of family and friends for promotions. Otherwise, keep the lines of communication open. This is good company to work for.
