I worked at TrojanOne as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

casual office, young environment, pets allowed

    Cons

Managers are quite young and are terrible at managing others. Negative attitudes towards other employees. No room for growth, high turnover.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

get rid of the 'power trip' attitude and learn how to work collectively together.

The Co-op experience is a great introduction to the industry. Do not expect a full time role. Luck will determine.

I worked at TrojanOne as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Many professional clients, opportunity to become very resourceful.

    Cons

Most are overworked (as with agencies in general), below average pay, lack of training, young crowd is less knowledgeable and often results in recycling of old material, senior management often does not report to scheduled meetings which can make any individual's job difficult.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow co-op employees to initially shadow management, before spearheading work of their own and show them 'the big picture' so they understand the value of their work.

I worked at TrojanOne as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

-Lots of work sometimes, little work sometimes, but for the most part it was a good balance
-For the most part, worked with nice people
-Learned some things that I can use for my next job
-Found things I could improve on
-If you like sports and marketing some of the work is very interesting

    Cons

-Extremely minimal pay @ $5/hour, debated quitting for a minimum wage job
-Sometimes upper management would say disrespectful things without seeming to notice how disrespectful it is, and in some cases they just didn't care
-All in all took this job out of complete desperation, which almost all interns do, and I dont feel it was worth it
-They try to subtly hint that there is an available opening, and that if you work your butt off you might have a chance, but you really don't
-Very obvious that the internship is a form of cheap labor, and potentially illegal since the work interns do is mostly the same as what full time staff do
-Senior management would always be spewing their propaganda about how great the company is with very rare mentions of serious problems like employee morale, workload, turnover, lack of contracts...etc

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Specifically for the internships, since wages and money are obviously an issue, hire 30-50% the number of interns, make sure they're qualified and pay them $11-12/hour (@ minimum wage they would still complain). At least in my experience, I could've done the work of 2 interns. Probably get better reviews as well. Or the company could keep the same model, I'm sure they'll continue to fill their internship positions

I worked at TrojanOne full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Young, fun culture
    - Wide varieties of projects and clients, great opportunity to build your portfolio
    - Most of the employees end up being friends outside the office as well
    - Great learning opportunity as an intern if you’re matched with a good manager
    - Office sports team every season
    - Beer on Fridays

    Cons

    - Compensation is pretty low
    - Long hours – be prepared to sacrifice personal time for your work
    - Little room for advancement – the organization is very bottom-heavy on the account side so once you get into a coordinator or analyst position there isn’t much room to advance other than horizontally to build your portfolio
    - High turnover of employees (as is common for agencies), but it affects the morale of the company negatively
    - If you are an intern, you are brought on persuaded by the possibility of a full-time job upon finishing, but mostly this will not happen due to the available opportunities on your team. If you are entering as an intern, view it as a learning experience and whatever effort you put into your job, do it for improve yourself as a professional not with the goal of landing a job. You’ll enjoy your experience a lot more if you view all your tasks as development opportunities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - There is a negative attitude growing in the company which is unfortunate because it’s not such a terrible place to work. A lot of this stems from management misleading interns who then develop negative attitudes as well as the high-stress environment that breaks a lot of the full-timers
    - The fact that the compensation isn’t very good combined with the little to no room for advancement makes many employees view the organization as a temporary stepping stone to something bigger and better. This attitude will not change unless you better incentivise people to stick around
    - By the halfway mark of an internship term, take your high-performing interns aside and congratulate them. If you are planning on offering them something, tell them. Otherwise, the motivated ones (the ones you probably want in your organization) will likely start searching for other opportunities so they’re not unemployed at the end of the 4 months and then if they get a better offer, you’ll miss out

Business Model Exploits Young Professionals and President is a Jerk

I have been working at TrojanOne full-time

    Pros

    Fun socials
    Young staff
    Beer on Fridays

    Cons

If you're an intern you will get overworked, underpaid and will receive no credit for anything you do.

Disorganized due to high turnover and management overworking its employees.

The President is rude, condescending and a complete jerk. I've never had such little respect for someone. The things that come out of his mouth are some of the rudest things I've ever heard. His attitude spoils the culture and atmosphere of the organization. Having a leader of this nature decreased my passion for my work and caused me to leave and never look back immediately after my term.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This is a great company minus the President and business model of exploiting young professionals.

I have been working at TrojanOne

    Pros

--> staff are given a budget to take classes to further their skills. (not all companies will do this)
--> really cool list of clients
--> if you are a sports fan, it's a great environment. Lot's of sport related projects and fellow staff are big sports fans.

    --> Lots of social outings.
--> A great place for a solid learning experience whether you are looking for a full-time, contract or internship position

    Cons

--> could use a bit more teamwork at times between departments
--> Hi stress situations a little too often

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are a lot of people who have discussed their situations and ranted about their experiences..which is unfortunate. In my experience, overall this is a tight knit company that will look out for you.

Sure there are a few things that need to be worked on. But no company is perfect. I think the most important thing is to keep encouraging your staff. Tell them when they do a good job, It will go a very long way.

I have been working at TrojanOne as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

You learn a lot- new skills, applicable

    Cons

It's like going to high school- drama, cliques, micro managers, expect interns who work for free to work as long as full time -salary paid employees.
