I worked at Troon Golf full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I was fortunate to have some really good and caring bosses while I worked for Troon. I started with the company in college and my boss helped me get a good job once I graduated. I was actually offered 3 different positions (all in different states). I worked for Troon for 5 1/2 years. The company's managers and upper level executives seem to care about their employees and want to help them advance. Overall, I had a great experience despite one club and one boss (same job) that didn't work out so well.

    Cons

These cons are more pertaining to the golf business not so much Troon specific - the pay is lower than an equivalent job outside the golf/sports industry and you typically have to be willing to move to move up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's been a few years since I worked for the company, but based on my experience I would say keep doing what you're doing!

I worked at Troon Golf full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The greatest thing was working with the field associates and some corporate associates. The business model of the company is great and the company really knows how to manage great country clubs.

    Cons

Surprised that some of the senior level management at corporate have been there as long as they have. Lots of favoritism to those higher in power, but the employees who actually do the hard work and bust their butts off aren't acknowledged. Compensation is horrible, benefits are mediocre, and the finance/accounting team management is a joke.

I have been working at Troon Golf full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

When it is all said and done this company knows how to manage golf clubs both public and private.

    Cons

Happen to work with one of the worst GM's in the company so it does bring down scores a bit...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Corporate training is too vague. Need to be more property specific. Too many places doing things way too different and best practices not shared or taught.

I have been working at Troon Golf full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

CULTURE, opportunity, locations. Troon manages resort, public, and private golf clubs all over the world. On average these are 4 and 5 star properties and normally are the best in their respective regions. No other company in the business puts the people on the ground and the support behind them to dominate in hospitality as Troon does.

    Cons

Dealing with the general public will always present challenges, if you do not enjoy taking care of people then hospitality is not the business for you. Also to advance in Troon you must be prepared to put in the hours and time to demonstrate what you can do. Finally people who are unable to relocate to advancement opportunities should not complain as I see in other reviews....how else do you think the world works?
