    Pros

    Being outdoors and great exercise.

    Cons

Very hard physical work. Being outside during inclement weather. Lack of consistency in decision making from local management. Local management seems to have no concern about their employees at times.

    Advice to Management

Create protocols at the corporate level for the individual branches to follow in regards to day to day operations (particularly in regards to inclement weather and how employees are to be notified when work for a day is cancelled/postponed). Branch level management needs to make sure employees are notified when work is cancelled/postponed for the day rather than letting employees drive in before finding out.

    Pros

It is extremely easy to get up and come to work in the morning, knowing - every day, without exception, TruGreen embraces and promotes values and behaviors in the workplace that can be summed up in the Golden Rule: treat others as you would like to be treated. The leadership truly cares about its most valuable asset, the employees.

    Cons

Cons only exist when people are afraid to speak up about an issue with the leadership. TruGreen promotes and appreciates honest feedback and leadership takes action to resolve any areas of concern.

    Advice to Management

Stay consistent with and continue promoting and embracing TruGreen Values. Our customers can detect when employees that value the company the they work for and are more likely to use our service as a result.

    Pros

You work outside by yourself and make commission for sales you make on top of your hourly wage.

    Cons

Seasonal work, starting wage isn't too good, equipment isn't maintained very well.

    Pros

Limited supervision, outdoors, self-management, management assists with questions, and they provide support.

    Cons

Job is tough in inclement weather, some lifting, compensation, unreasonable production quotas

    Advice to Management

Lighten the amount of production quota and allow for more up-selling and new-account selling. Do not pay a salary for this position, instead pay them an hourly wage. The unreasonable production demands translate into the route manager making less than $10.00 per hour.

    Pros

Jenny provided some of the best moral boosting training I've had from a company. Excellent job!

    Cons

    Shift bids change too frequently.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. I presented an excel spread sheet to help with the calculation of the "Saves" process and by the end of the week it was being implemented on our team. The managers do a great job keeping communication open with the team and the incentive to do well is great!

    Pros

For sales professionals, this is currently a 'stepping stone' company. That is, you can use TG for a couple of years to pay your dues, get your sales chops then move on. Since you're calling on all kinds of businesses, school districts, municipal departments, etc. it's an interesting way to learn a lot about your community.

    Cons

You are required to make 50-60 cold phone calls/day, enter each conversation into salesforce.com, attend a daily conference call, a weekly department meeting, bid all new business (also salesforce.com) and address customer complaints, which you will surely have. These will take up over half of your 10-12 hour day which to me makes it inside sales, not outside. It is a surprisingly bureaucratic company. Know that this is not a full service lawn care company, which you will compete against. TG is a boutique company that only does fertilizing and weed control (some pest control). Also know that TG was spun off from parent company ServiceMaster late 2013 so that SV can go public. TruGreen, SV's poorest performing unit, was made independent in order to command a higher IPO price for SV. Makes sense but now TG is owned by a venture capital firm. Morale continues to be low among BDRs but that could change with a new owner.

    Advice to Management

Seriously? Not such a progressive company. Management has their fingers in their ears.

  9. Job is pretty straightforward, but management is constantly going back on what they say.
