    Pros

    70% discount. Taking bold risks.

    Cons

New staff came/ coming in arrogant. Know-it-all attitude. Ready to "fix" everything and highly critical. Highly political climate. Fear culture came after the layoffs.

    Advice to Management

Managers should be reviewed by their staff so you can learn whether they are good managers. The reserved parking for managers is highly elitist...loose it! Too many of the mid level managers suck up.

    Pros

    Fantastic DM leadership, professional environment.

    Cons

Store managers don't run stores appropriately or according to policies. Commission is on the chopping block. No overtime permitted. Workload is unrealistic at times (numerous window displays, delayed merchandise deliveries, late arrivals, etc.). Regional is not a presence in the businesses - lingers in NY market and plays favorites. Over the last few years the company has become a political mess. Benefits are also from CA, so coverage is minimal unless you live in California.

    Advice to Management

Store-level employees need to be compensated more fairly. Most employees will jump ship if commission is eliminated unless every employee receives at least a 25% wage increase. Create any opportunity at all for tenured sales associates, key holders & assistant managers to travel and/or partake in workshops to nurture talents and promote development form within.

    Pros

Great Discount Sales associates and some managers are very friendly and helpful Not a very competitive atmosphere, which is nice..I worked in all of the stores in NYC and the atmosphere is very negotiable, sales associates are respectful.

    Cons

Most the store Managers are horribly disorganized and are a walking train wreck. They are mean, take their anger out on sales associates and honestly seem very bitter. The store is always understaffed, yet anyone barely gets any hours. most of the time they are in need of managers, yet hire a bunch of part time employees instead and give each over laughable hours .. Like 13 hours a week. the theft in the store is insane, the regional and store managers act as if we should rip the clothing out of the customers hands.. WHICH IS DANGEROUS! Always try to go by the handbook while addressing theft, the customers can be shady at these stores.

    Advice to Management

If you hate retail and are bitter about being 40 and not moving up in the company, go somewhere else.. You are ruining the environment for the staff. Also stop being cheap with promoting people to full time or key holder positions, you are letting great people go elsewhere for jobs,,and it's taking a toll.

    Pros

Pay wasn't that great compared to other places I have worked. Bonus structure was in the works but not great!

    Cons

Liked the jeans and was totally aligned with the selling and customer service culture but it was hard to sell outfits as the product beside denim was so limited.

    Advice to Management

Work on a better monthly bonus strutter to motivate your employees! Need to communicate with corporate to ensure stores have correct product in stores and more variety.

    Pros

as of now none. before the buyout, it was a pretty good place to work . generous salaries, bonus and benefits. there was a goal and a look ,there was a leader with a vision that worked. he knew every aspect of the business from samples ,production ,buying ,design and retail.

    Cons

the new management are clueless on how to fix this business. It all starts from the product and the leaders in design are incompetent and living in a dream. the production dept is a joke ,they have exhausted most of the relationship with the current vendors. more generals then soldiers. I would really look closely at the creative director to see if they really have a strategy to move forward ,rather than collecting their fat checks. the deadweights that no longer contribute in design is a waste of money ,energy and productivity. you really need to see if they are stepping up.

    Advice to Management

Making people drink on the job is not going to solve the problem or make you look like you have a great culture. I would not be surprised if someone would sue the company ,if they were pulled over for a dui or they had an accident or alcohol lead incidents? anyways,it's not cool to drink on the job... come up with a game plan, It would be a miracle to turn the company around . whatever you are doing is not working so, lets see what happens.
