I have been working at TubeMogul

    Pros

It's not everyday you get to work for a company where you're surrounded by young focused driven people who like to have a good time, and create and sell a top-notch product at the same time! TubeMogul has so many awesome people working there, an excellent training program, and sharp leadership.

    Cons

The work/life balance can be difficult sometimes, and the time off isn't all that great either. They really work you hard here.

I have been working at TubeMogul full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Tons of room for growth! Environment is upbeat and the people here are motivated and ambitious. Pup friendly environment, snacks/beverages are always stocked and awesome management. The mentality here is "play hard work hard!" A lot of interaction with different departments definitely a team effort culture.

    Cons

A lot can be going on at once and workload might feel overwhelming but people are always willing to help.

I have been working at TubeMogul full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Fast-Pace and hyper-growth
    Hardworking employees
    Tons of snacks
Provides fun classes taught by other colleagues

An OK place to begin your career, but would not stay for the long run.

    Cons

    1.Very low compensation
    2. No work-life balance
    3. No career growth or training
    4. Mid-level managers need training

Unless you are in engineering, the company is hardly GlassDoor's #5 "Best place to work at". Initially, the company has attracted a number of talented and smart employees who are great to work with, but most of them have left for better opportunities or frustration on the little processes the company implements. The "great" culture is highly emphasized from recruiting to the on-boarding processes, but gradually, you realize that was a facade. The company is growing too fast without the right processes and leadership in place, and the result is a chaotic culture of putting out fires every day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Rather than marketing it as a great place to work and having a great culture, provide support and develop your employees. Pay your talented employees what they deserve, don't condescend the younger employees in the company, and recognize that all departments are equal (Engineering and Sales do not make up a business)

I have been working at TubeMogul full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Leadership team is smart, focused, and approachable. The dedication to a flat org structure and open door policy / access to execs is still intact even after successful IPO. TubeMogul is a work hard, play hard company that maintains an entrepreneurial spirit. Team culture and a "do what you say" approach is championed and promotion / compensation based on merit is frequent. International transfers and promotions occur often also. I personally love the "no-BS" environment of this place. And, we throw awesome parties and events.

    Cons

Exponential revenue growth and global-presence have resulted in minor growing pains.

I worked at TubeMogul full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    - Great people, very ambitious and hardworking
    - Leadership is above average with a clear vision

    Cons

The company tries really hard to keep a good reputation with the greater ad tech industry, but internally lacks real support and development for employees. The perks here? Nothing above and beyond what a tech company generally offers. Compensation? Below market and hard to attain a raise unless you threaten to leave. Training? On-boarding is comprehensive but ongoing professional/managerial/personal training is lacking. Providing fun classes on wine taught by other colleagues is nice, but how about a real investment into certification programs that is widely recognized?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Instead of throwing money into PR and marketing, actually follow through with real support and development for your employees.

    Pros

Get stuff done attitude is prevalent across all employee levels. Product development is continuous, but meticulous. Sales leaders empower the team to close deals while ensuring a fun and collaborative environment. The product itself is best in class and the company maintains a good balance between consultative software selling vs. media only.

    Cons

HR and Training teams could be built out more robustly, especially in remote offices. Internal product updates and launch communication could be streamlined and more digestible. Seller account assignment process could be more delineated.

    Pros

Bright and fun group. Great place for junior level people who want to learn the ad tech space. Right time right place business model. Company tries really hard to make employees enjoy working there. Super competitive space with lots of competition to come as more budgets move to digital video.

    Cons

Micro-managed. Can move too fast at times causing more bugs which leads to slow release adoption and low product confidence.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Empower others to make decisions. Feels very micro-managed with every decision still coming from 2 or 3 top execs. Can feel at times like it's still a business school project.

I have been working at TubeMogul full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The company has good leadership who offer an above-average amount of information to employees. Interesting business model and apparently a successful one at that, but still plenty of challenges to work on. Very competitive compensation and a hard-working but fun-loving culture.

    Cons

Company skews very young, especially the engineering teams. There is a lot of working "hard", but too little working "smart". More experienced employees and new-comers will have a hard time making their voices heard. Joining the company is NOT "taking a job" nor is it a "career move"; it is really making a lifestyle choice. Expectations are high and usually unachievable in anything resembling a standard work week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

As the company grows, it must inevitably become more stable, mature, with better processes for repeatable successes. This may mean changing the culture a bit, but that is not a bad thing. You've hired smart people and are paying them well, listen to them.

I worked at TubeMogul full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

There is good culture here and it's great that people don't take themselves too seriously. Average age of the company was around 25-30 years of age who are young and for the most part are great to be/work around. What I definitely appreciated was that since this was a "start-up" environment, the process to get things done were rather quick as we didn't have to get approval from many different execs/departments and could move projects internally along quickly.

You also don't have to be glued to your desk all day and can comfortable move around the office and find sofas/coaches to work.

Career Advancement: People within the company have definitely moved around to different departments which makes this a great place to start your career and learn as much as possible about the different roles/industry.

Platform/Product: Definitely easy to use and is one of the better video buying platforms on the market.

Snacks: Definitely a wide variety of snacks in the kitchen that gets replenished every day or two. There are people who can live off of just eating from the kitchen.

    Cons

Some problems with management. Many of the managers were promoted from within and never had any experiencing managing any teams prior to joining the company. While this does create a great opportunity for employees to further their careers, it creates issues with the teams internally because the managers lack the experience/qualifications needed to manage larger teams

Benefits: No 401k matching. Only those who were one of the early employees of the company benefited from the stock option program. Salaries are lower for some of the entry level positions and decent as an engineer. I believe after your 1 year, increases in salary are rather generous and may or may not bring you closer to market value.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire managers who have proven experience managing/leading large teams with knowledge of the product.
