Pros – It is easy to stay at a place like this for quite a while. They do treat their employees well.
Cons – They pay is low and sometimes people are hired for positions they are not qualified for. Needs a better hiring process and training program.
Advice to Senior Management – Possibly make it so the departments are not in as much of a silo situation. The people in different departments should be able to interact better.

Pros – Great mission statement. Beautiful building and beautiful campus. Interesting art exhibits for the public. Excellent film festival. Has potential to be truly great community gathering place.
Cons – Pres/CEO is a jock with limited intelligence & no sincere connection to the JCC's mission. He has no vision about what the JCC could be and how it could be truly great. He puts sports above culture every time ~ STRONGLY DISCOURAGED the formation of a library (which was to be run by volunteers).
Advice to Senior Management – Replace CEO with a visionary, passionate LEADER. Current CEO is not respected by staff (in fact, he is ridiculed for his "lightweight" insincerity about important issues. He is a lightweight by all standards.

Pros – Nice building & grounds & landscaping. Good benefits package. Nice mix of programs for little kids and older/senior citizens.
Cons – Incompetent people get to keep their jobs if they suck up to senior management. Some of the managers there are fully functioning "yes" people. Member complaints are treated like they are just nuisances if the complaint isn't something that senior management cares about. Very little basic respect for opinions exists although lipservice is given to that concept.
Advice to Senior Management – Regrettably, the leadership there has no incentive to make positive change. "I've got mine" is the attitude of management versus staff. Top heavy salary for CEO, appalling salary for teachers (and the message is "You're lucky to have a job at all.") The place has no heart.
