    Pros

Great projects, some talented people to work with. Good locations for offices. Good compensation packages.

    Cons

Poor management at top level. Uncontrolled spending. Too many managers managing too few technical staff.

    Advice to Management

Need to get a grip on cost control. Need to realise that Tullow is no more skilled than any other oil company

    Pros

Competitive pay and other benefits in terms of health, gym memberships. Small company led to a feeling of being able to do things differently/better than other oil companies.

    Cons

Perhaps too rapid growth has led to failure to implement effective management systems and to an influx of former big oil company personnel trying to impose those big company systems but in a completely ineffective and non-systematic way. It's a shambles and the wastage is in the millions. Biggest con would be the disparity between what we say and what we do - big claims on the company web site led me to join up, now just looking for the out.

    Advice to Management

Live eat and breath the concept of the major simplification. Don't turn it into another paper exercise that costs millions, sounds great, become 'majorly' complicated and changes nothing.

    Pros

Always great remuneration and a lot of respect for those who worked hard. Lots of opportunity to travel and move up the ladder, and if it was responsibility you wanted then it was there to be had.

    Cons

Company lost its way by 2010. Lots of new Managers coming through a rotating door with different values and visions (even a few with no values worth mentioning). A total loss of focus on what had made Tullow great, i.e. exploiting exploration opportunities. Lots of "lets be bigger than BG", and "we can make money from our logistics operations in Africa, even when not producing oil"...blah, and total nonsense being spouted by a bunch of IBM consultants who were replacing oil experienced professionals.

    Advice to Management

Seems in 2015 the plummeting share price has finally woken those at the top up to the guff being spouted by middle management in London. It's a shame so many worthwhile oil professionals were lost during the slumbering years.

    Cons

progression is only for the few fortunate.

  8. Needs a complete shake up of all corporate services - at the moment this is a black hole.

    Pros

No processes in place so people have the autonomy and freedom to get on with things. Great if you employ people who know what they're doing and have some drive; wasted on some of the dead weight that have been at Tullow for years and have no passion for what they do.

    Cons

Some of the corporate services, such as HR and IT, are very toxic environments to work in, especially at the top. People getting bullied and HR are usually in on it. Perhaps this is better outside of London, but in the corporate office I wouldn't recommend anyone working here.

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes to what's going on outside of Exploration. You need to get rid of people who cling on to their jobs because of the attractive share options they received a few years ago but who deliver very little. In order to do that, you need an intelligent, unbiased way to assess performance. What you have in place is a joke.

    Pros

An operational organisation that seems to work and deliver

    Cons

A corporate organisation now trying to catch up with the organisation. A flat organisation that no one takes charge of, hence moving through treacle

    Advice to Management

Time for a change at the top to reflect the maturing nature of the organisation and its culture.
