    Great Company, Tough Hours

    Project Engineer III (Current Employee)
    Miami, FL

ProsLargest builder in the US, heavy focus on developing staff, wide variety of opportunities to work on different projects and different aspects of the building process.

ConsLong hours - usually expected to work a minimum of 50 hours a week, causing work-life balance to suffer. This causes many of younger employees to burn out and leave.

Advice to Senior ManagementStrong leadership is key, making employees feel valued is incredibly important for retention.

    Welcome to the frat house.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsHave watched people skate by with minimal effort and be promoted. Turner will not fire anyone, instead upper management will set you up to fail and provide you enough rope to hang yourself from.

ConsHas no problem sending you to work away from your family.

Advice to Senior ManagementGive credit where credits due

Best to join Turner straight from school if that's where you want to rise.

    Project Engineer (Former Employee)
    New York, NY

ProsStrong company and good for your resume with many marquee projects. Has strong procedural focus-good to learn that. Good internal education opportunities. Good benefits.

ConsHard to penetrate the culture or advance when entering from mid-senior level. Turner tends to groom its own for management roles.

Advice to Senior ManagementMake experienced hires part of your organization. Outside influence will make the company stronger. Don't throw the newbies out to the wolves without support-it damages both your staff and your credibility.

Turner is a good place work if you are ok with the big corporate mentality.

    Project Engineer (Former Employee)
    Somerset, NJ

ProsTurner is progressive and on the cutting edge of the industry. They invested heavily in education and employee development.

ConsTheir risk aversion can be a hinderance to being a team player and often supercedes being a good builder. Paperwork detracts from the project.

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest more in relationships with Owners, subcontractors, and vendors.

    Great place to work

    Project Accountant (Former Employee)
    Washington, DC

ProsI had a great experience at this company. The pay is good and there are a lot of good people there. There were always plenty of opportunities to advance available. You may have needed to look for them, but they were there. All it took was initiative.

ConsThe hours could be long sometimes. This wasn't too much of a problem, because I think that's pretty much the same anywhere you go.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep up the good work!
