I worked at Tyco Security Products full-time

    Pros

Some good people, interesting technology, division is growing revenue wise.

    Cons

Growth through acquisitions has produced many disjointed processes, each location does things differently. Not conducive to the "One Tyco" mantra. Very slow to back fill positions vacated through attrition. No real incentives for retaining good employees. Lots of overworked employees. HR is abysmal.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize and promote good talent when you have it. Provide retention incentives outside of the Engineering Management structure. Bonuses, ISO or RCU's. Provide clear career ladder guidance for those who ask about it. Clear out the Westford HR group and re-populate with professionals who will be responsible and work with the management team to help entice people to want to work there.

I have been working at Tyco Security Products full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

It's a job. They give you the bare minimum base plus commission

    Cons

Micro management. Upper management is full of nepotism, plus they are detached bean counters whose only concerns are with the shareholders... Employees are second class.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop hiring your buddies that have no experience in sales or security and try taking care of the people that create the opportunities for you to get paid.
