I worked at Tyson Foods-Arkansas full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great bonus structure, constant development opportunities for self improvement, flexible to work with regarding family issues.

    Cons

The biggest issue with Tyson is the constant restructuring that goes on every 18-24 months, it makes it challenging to be consistent with customers, but not impossible.

I worked at Tyson Foods-Arkansas full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I had a great time working for Tyson foods for 2 years. I worked in the production management world and thoroughly enjoyed the fast paced environment as well as the family-like relationships you develop with your team. I think that Tyson truly has the right intentions and have a great "small company" feel despite being a near $40 Billion company. I met with multiple VPs of Operations as well as the CEO on multiple occasions and thought they were very intelligent and kind individuals.

    Cons

Extremely time consuming. I would often find myself working fully through the weekends, 90 hour weeks, and 15 hour days. Although I enjoyed the work, they generally didn't care for personal time and instead the focus was the work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is really minimal amounts of things that can be done because of the nature of the industry but perhaps I would recommend that there be more of a focus on retention of individuals as opposed to just running through them until they want to leave.

I have been working at Tyson Foods-Arkansas full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Steady employment, reasonable wages, decent benefits compared to other employers.Reasonably safe working conditions, they strive to improve on safety of Team Members.

    Cons

Just like anywhere else, you have good supervisors/managers, and you have those that seem to be a ongoing work in progress for Human Resources Dept. Everybody wants more compensation, but with some supervisors/ managers that's all they care about, to the detriment of the operation. This is something that needs to be addressed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have supervisors/managers that will hold off on needed repairs/ capital investment in their facility. Example; You have 2 gear boxes on top of a feed mill, crane access only, 1 is out the other soon to follow. You have spent the funds for a crew of millwrights to suppliment local maintenance, and change both boxes out in the 3 hr. min time for the crane rental, but they only change 1. 2 days later the other box goes out, and the mill is down for 6 hrs. waiting for the crane. Now why did they not take advantage to change it out when they changed the other?

I worked at Tyson Foods-Arkansas full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Tyson Foods has great benefits, competitive pay and mostly competent management. The new CEO is growing the company and still seems to care about all the employees.

    Cons

Some roles seem to lack a defined career path and some promotions seemed to be more about who you know rather than what you know.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A program was started for employees to submit their ideas for the company to save money. This program was a great idea and encourages employee to feel like they are heard and make a difference.

I worked at Tyson Foods-Arkansas full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great pay since Wal-Mart is located nearby, helps drive salaries up
Quality of living in Northwest Arkansas is relatively cheap, get a lot for less!

    Cons

Somewhat of a "good ole boy network" that makes you wonder how some individuals ever managed to achieve certain leadership levels. For instance, if they were to apply for their own position they would not be able to meet some of the minimum requirements. Certain groups say they like MBA's but very hard to get the organization to change its focus.
