Current Employee – been working at U M B Bank, N. A.
Pros – Great benefits and paid time off. Decent pay per hour if you do not have a college degree.
Cons – Coworkers are extremely hard to get along due to lack of discipline. Little room for growth for college graduate unless someone above you quits. Only internal candidates are promoted. Very boring job, dont anticipate to be busy. Many of your supervisors will not have gone to college, although you did. Also, your degree will not hold any weight when being considered for a promotion.

Former Employee – worked at U M B Bank, N. A.
Pros – Easy to get a job if you don't care where you work. Cooperation within your specific team is generally great. Bank holidays are awesome.
Cons – Job satisfaction is lacking. Poor communication from Senior management for important items. Very little solidarity on corporate visions and year to year movement within the banking world.
Advice to Senior Management – Open doors are open information. Tell your employees what is going on no matter what as soon as you possibly can. Make sure your front line workers understand just as much about what is happening as your executives do.

Former Employee – worked at U M B Bank, N. A.
Pros – Interview process moved along fairly quickly considering how long the process takes these days.
Cons – Think twice before you turn in your 2 wks notice to your employer, they may just rescind their offer. I was given an offer, went out of my way to move up my start date at their request, causing me to turn in my 2 wks notice to my current employer earlier than I anticipated and then less than a week later.........they called me and told me they had to rescind the offer. No alternative, no compensation, no nothing, just a sorry. Seriously, your sorry, that I may be unemployed and cannot get unemployment because I technically resigned from my current position. I'm sorry that I ever accepted your offer. I'm sure the Execs are enjoying their end of the year bonus while I am out of a job.
Advice to Senior Management – How about you not approve positions and budgets if there are "directives" that are going to be given in less than a week.

Pros – UMB has a real awareness of the need for "happy employees". There is great effort to engage employees. The PTO policy is very generous and the work environment is very good.
Cons – There is still a great deal of work needed on the teamwork within groups at UMB. Although great strides have been made over the past few years, there's still a "silo" effect in some areas.

Former Employee – worked at U M B Bank, N. A.
Pros – paid time off very fair. 401 (k) match fair. Nice work environment. Networking with other departments promoted by management. Good location. Well known in the community.
Cons – Salary not competetive in market place. Crude negotiations. Some employees quit and work somewhere else for a year and return to acheive a higher salary.
Advice to Senior Management – Employee buy-in is good but don't push your luck.
