Pros
The company is strong and stable. This bank will be around after the others have fallen. The bank has money to lend.
Cons
Pay is always a factor as employees believe they should be paid what they think they are worth. Pay is higher at local community banks, but what is the trade off?
Pros
Relationships with customers, reward trips and recognitions when successful.
Cons
Management in my location changed more than 5 times in 4 years. Too much focus on paperwork to prove your trying to sell vs just selling the products/services. Upper management more worried about them looking good by tracking information vs actually performing an producing. Alot of focus on getting the sale, or the right "percentage" of a certain product. Many people will manipulate or lie to the customer to make it appear they are doing a great job. When if actually look at the long term use of a product, most customers cancel within 3 to 6 months. No focus on retaining customer, just getting them into the door to replace the customer we just lost because they were not being taken care of.
Advice to Senior Management
Get dirty, get rid of dead weight and shady people. Dont just look at what is sold, but rather how long the product has been in place.
Pros
Really enjoyed that people that I worked with. Felt proud to work for the company. Not much else to say about the company.
Cons
Upper middle management is bit to be desired. Did not provide the proper tools in a timely manner to get the job done or satisfy a customer need.
Advice to Senior Management
Management needs to make swifter decisions to make lasting positive impact towards the overall customer experience. That Five Star Guarantee doesn't work as well as you think it does.
Pros
Supportive managment, pension, 401k match, lead and prospecting lists provided, relaxed environment, opportunity for career advancement.
Cons
Low base salary compared to other positions, low bonus payout for investment and bank sales. Limited resources in the investment department.
Pros
Pay is good for some areas
Coworkers are pretty laid-back, smart individuals
Predictable
Cons
Very numbers based thinking, hypocrites when they say they want customer service when really they mean customer's money is priority. Recently began charging sales tax on lease late fees, maintenance fees on checking accounts, basically money hungry
Advice to Senior Management
Clearly delineate what is rewarded. You say customer service but then you reward the bullies!
Pros
As with most jobs it is what you make it. So considering I work in a call center I would say that the experience has been great and the ability to move up is even better.
Cons
Lets be honest the mostly uneducated customers that do not care to learn how their money is being handled.
Advice to Senior Management
Talk to every level!
Pros
U.S. Bank is a great place to get experience in. Some departments are great to work in and they want you to get promoted.
Cons
There are departments at U.S. Bank that are really bad to work in. They are bad in training, communication and management's leadership is not great. They don't treat their employees very well.
Pros
Was able to work on complex and very engaging issues with upper management, which is unique for such a large bank.
Cons
There was a lot of excess work due to all of the issues occuring within the banking industry. The federal reserve being one of those issues.
Pros
Competence of management... Management team is best in class in many respects; Financial strength... always at the top of the ratings during these difficult financial times; Great products... our product line is state-of-the-art, easy to use and highly recommended by customers; Management at all levels listens to employees feedback and seems to respect the employees.
Cons
On the low side of the market for pay and health benefits need some work as they are not competitive in the West Coast market
Advice to Senior Management
Fix the pay and health benefits for each market.
Pros
During the time I worked there, I was a student and they were very accommodating and flexible with my school schedule.
Cons
No room to develop, grow or move into any kind of promotion. The most unorganized and unfair company I have worked for.
Advice to Senior Management
Making sure your employees are satisfied with their job is just as important as making sure the customers are satisfied with their service.
