Pros
Night hours so I could go to school during the day.
Cons
Ridiculous how the push the sales. Plus nobody every qualifies for anything!
Pros
Very nice people
Large bank, lots of opportunities for advancement
Great mentoring as I was a college student at the time
Cons
Large bank with many inefficiencies
Lower level employees are often ignored, management definitely plays favorites so get on their good side
Pros
Ability to try out new ideas and improve processes. They are not totally set in stone. You can become a leader in a team of followers very quickly
Cons
Because they still act like a small bank, you need to be very careful about the choices you make with approvals and overrides. One small mistake could cost you your position. In addition, they are not high tech, learning department still uses overheads.
Advice to Senior Management
Choose to invest in your leadership development.
Pros
As with most jobs it is what you make it. So considering I work in a call center I would say that the experience has been great and the ability to move up is even better.
Cons
Lets be honest the mostly uneducated customers that do not care to learn how their money is being handled.
Advice to Senior Management
Talk to every level!
Pros
You have a stable job to go to
Cons
They yell at their customers and yell at their employees
Advice to Senior Management
Awful management. They are so focused on sales, they forget about how they are in business to begin with.
Pros
Very fun work environment. Customer service is held higher than sales goals which is refreshing. There are many avenues to advance within the company.
Cons
At times the work may become a secondary focus to socializing. Lack of knowledge about bank policies from supervisors casues frustration when help is needed with a problem. Compensation including salary, bonuses, and benefits is on average much lower than those of competing banks.
Advice to Senior Management
Offer higher wages to employees who already work for the company. Employees do not enjoy hearing about those who are recruited from outside the company recieving higher wages. Also require more professional highering processes
Pros
Free outdoor parking
Close to home for me
Cons
No Communication
Conflicting organizational structure
Terrible managers promoted only for hiding under their desks without being seen
Advice to Senior Management
Hire a real IT staff instead of the inbred group of sheep
Pros
Absolutely an amazing company to work for, I would have retired with them if life had allowed me to do so.
Cons
Very little, except perhaps that there was not quite enough decisioning authority at the branch level. Economy hit hard, and small, though noticeable, things were cut, and customers recognized and were offended by this.
Advice to Senior Management
Absolutely fabulous! Your direction and your leadership are wonderful - keep at it, and U.S. Bank will be a top three bank!
Pros
Stability
My branch has free coffee
Cons
Pay - I produce over 300k in revenue for the bank annually and I'm paid roughly 15% of that, that includes bonuses AND benefits.
Bonus Compensation - don't expect to make more than $500.00 per QUARTER for your bonus. Also, bonus points are deferred for 3 months so you don't get paid out on sales you make for up to 5 months. For example, if you book a loan in January, you don't see money from that until your last paycheck in May.
Clear career paths - good luck ever moving to a department that isn't branch banking.
Technology - My computer is literally 15 years old. My iPhone has more processing speed, RAM, and HDD space.
Unyeilding and relenting pressure
Advice to Senior Management
Hire a higher caliber employee and pay them more.
Pros
The only pro of working for this company is that it is very sound in the market, which creates some sense of job security.
Cons
It might just be retail banking in general, but U.S. Bank is rediculous in the things they expect us to do, for the less-than-glamorous compensation.
Advice to Senior Management
The retail leadership of this bank is so far out of touch of how things actually work in the branches. Try getting feedback from the employees on what is working, and what isn't.
