Pros
Location - downtown Minneapolis. Transit to the City easy and a fun place to shop and have dinner after work.
Cons
U.S. Bank underpays their employees. When I was interviewed by the recruiter and then we got to the point of salary negoations, she did the bait and switch trick. Starting out a work relationship this way is not a positive start. Then when it came to reviews only a minimal amount was give, but a larger bonus. The reason this is done is the salary increase is cumulative. While the bonis is to make you feel good for the moment. The joke in the company was if you want a decent size increase in pay, quite and then come back.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay attention to the company cultural. You've missed the target on a respectful enjoyable productive work environment. Some upper management is the problem, and many of middle management are the problem. The focus is on self servant ,control and manipulation, versus what's right for the customer and the employees.
Pros
Good benefits, especially the transportation benefits. Company encourages work/life balance. Intelligent coworkers.
Cons
VERY outdated technology. You'll be using IE 6 as your browser. Yes, that's right, IE 6. LotusNotes for email (ugh). Technology wise, it's like you're in a time warp and you're stuck in 2001. Very difficult to obtain a laptop, even if you have a business need for one.
Advice to Senior Management
Can we get a Firefox up in here?
Pros
Great company work ethic with opportunities to learn and growth as an employee.
Cons
The salary packages do not seem to be competetive with other similarly situated organizations and advancement opportunities are not prelevant.
Pros
Decent benefits. Anyone with ambition and a good personality can move up. Very friendly and supportive work environment. Incentives are not hard to hit and can pay pretty well. the branch i work at is very fast paced which is very nice. Quarterly campaigns are very fun, especially if you win!
Cons
Starting from the bottom can take a long time. Sales pressure is a definite reality. starting wages are a bit low, but moving up isn't hard to do.
Advice to Senior Management
stop printing full account numbers on receipts and you will save customers and employees a lot of headaches.
Pros
strength of company and stability
Cons
I know the company is safe, but they lose a lot of talent because of competitive salary.
Advice to Senior Management
Vision of senior leadership is solid, but they need to do a better job to keep talent in house by compensating better and recognizing top performers for the work they do.
Pros
Friendly environment, team oriented, accepting of alternative lifestyles, flexible scheduling, excellent training programs, laid-back management, high morale in the workplace
Cons
Can be difficult to get questions answered promptly by superiors, some employees take it upon themselves to not perform their job functions, micromanaged from people that I support NOT the other way around, no free coffee bar ;-)
Advice to Senior Management
I feel like the direction of the company as an employee has been a really great one from what I can tell so far. It does seem like there needs to be a little more communication so that other departments understand what their job functions are. It can get somewhat difficult to get work done when I am being micromanaged by a branch manager who knows very little about what I am actually here for.
Pros
Work with many departments and have a wide range of company knowledge
Cons
ridgid scheduling and benifits are expensive
Advice to Senior Management
Too much mirco managing
Pros
One of the leading banks in USA
Cons
Integrity
Recognition, pay and compensation
Strategic focus
Advice to Senior Management
Recognize the strengths and focus
Pros
If you can find your niche, it may be a great place to work
Cons
No lateral moves and very little opportunity for advancement
Pay was bellow industry average
Advice to Senior Management
study what drives employees (and no, it's not always money). I think you'll find that if people are allowed to move even laterally, they will stick with the company for a while
Pros
I have only been here for about 6 months, but so far it has been great! My manager is very supportive and nice, and I can relate to her a lot.
Cons
I don't really have any complaint about working here - it has been great this whole time. Attendance is definitely a bit strict, but it's to be expected.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the fantastic work! I always come to work motivated and ready to take up the challenge of being a great banker. I know this job will help me later in life.
