I have been working at U.S. Security Associates

    Pros

The work itself is fairly easy and its a fun job and okay pay. The employees are all friendly and kind.

    Cons

Favoritism, no recognition for excellent service, will write you up for any little thing, promoted a officer to captain over sergeants and a lieutenant due to favoritism.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote qualified people not people you like.

I worked at U.S. Security Associates full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Easy job, you just have to show up and your employee of the year.

    Cons

They get your check wrong all the time, if you don't watch it you'll get paid the wrong hourly wage, maybe that's how they make bonuses.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

CEO clean house in the Birmingham office and start from scratch, they're all terrible.

I worked at U.S. Security Associates full-time for more than a year

    Pros

They'll hire almost anyone. Other than that, I can't contribute any more to a list of Pros regarding U.S. Security Associates.

    Cons

Don't manage well, consistently abdicate responses to their employees, terrible work conditions at the job sites, miss meetings with employees, deny employees rights.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You should really take into consideration the safety of your employees. Don't work them in unsafe environments just so you can have a client.

I have been working at U.S. Security Associates full-time for more than a year

    Pros

My co-workers are what keep me going to work right now.

    Cons

Some management is ok but some are complete jerks who don't know how to communicate or properly speak to their employees. pay is low yet better then some post. Favoritism runs rampant if your not a favorite you will never get anywhere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better train your supervisors and higher ups. on how to do their job, and use better judgement when looking for a good candidate for a supervisor or higher position start by looking for professionalism and common sense.

    Cheap and unprofessional

    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

I have been working at U.S. Security Associates

    Pros

Consistant work. on the most part friendly co-workers. I am alone on the post so I don't feel the pressure of someone constantly looking over my shoulder....well that could be a con as well if I got injured.

    Cons

My site supervisor (Major) is unprofessional.
He tends to pat the backs of officers who do NOT perform well, even after several years on the job. While those of us that stuggle to be on time, perform duties required and maintain a professional appearance are constantly reprimanded on any small infraction.
My "Captain" is unable or unwilling to inforce rules unless the "Major" tells her to write someone up. She has never in the time I've been there handled a situation without calling the major first. She has been at the same site for 10+ yrs.
The pay is bare minimum. I have been with the company at the same post for 4 yrs. I am still making $7.25/hr. No chance for any overtime.
The insurance offered is terrible. It pays $50 per visit and only 6 times a yr.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I love my job, but would love it more if I earned a livable wage. Site supervisors need more training and
some supervising themselves. Mine tends to believe he is never wrong and even our district office just lets him go.
