Pros
Great location to work, benefits very competitive
Open and transparent culture
Has world-leading WM, Research, and Equities platform
APAC business is on the up
Cons
Can be overly bureaucratic at times
Taken some bad decisions re. the investment bank
Pros
You are pput in touch with so many people internationally that you can really improve your skills interacting with such a diverse group of people.
Cons
I always felt like they could easily conduct lay-offs at any point and no amount of hard work would matter, because it would be adecision coming down from the higher-ups. But I suppose any big business would feel like that.
Pros
UBS has a great support structure. The worldwide structure of the company makes it great for spreading out across the world.
Cons
Working at UBS was OK. For my position as an intern I had little opportunity for advancement. It was difficult motivation wise
Pros
You can benefit of the global research and international work opportunity. It is one of the best player in the market and they train their employees successfully to remain on top
Cons
The name of the firm is always exposed to reputational risk, which may cause problem while dealing with your clients.
Pros
good benefits, smart people, good titles, good workplace dynamic people care about the work theyre doing and there is a good amount of cohesion
Cons
sometimes people can get too competitivr and there are layoffs whiuchcan be annoying and everyone can seem to pressure you
Advice to Senior Management
we need more accountability, more friendly people, helpful it people and more jobs for the people taht need them the most
Pros
It was fun, people are enjoyable, it has a very European feel to the bank, overall a great experience too
Cons
Stressful, involved putting a lot of time from your day, it is all about the ranking next to your name
Advice to Senior Management
There are a lot of diamonds in the rough at UBS, as in some of the most knowledgeable people are lower down
Pros
A lot of very smart people work at UBS. It is very rare to find a weak senior manager in IT and the quality of the IT products are generally quite high. Furthermore, most of the key IT processes are well developed, so learning the UBS way of doing things will serve you well if you move to another firm. Strong emphasis is placed on employee growth and feedback, and the employee evaluation process (PMM) is thoughtfully managed.
Cons
(writing in late 2011) the overall strategy of the firm is under review, so candidates should do their best to make sure that any role they take will continue to be part of the strategy in the coming months.
Pros
good learning and internship experience
Cons
work load is little bit heavy
Advice to Senior Management
have well-organized management system
Pros
highly intelligent people, great opportunities
Cons
I loved everything there, so really nothing bad to say unless you don't like long hours
Pros
From the onboarding period throughout the training the company provided support and assistance in order to prepare you for the job of working with your clients.
Cons
Administrative overhead requires a great deal of time that could be and should be used with clients.
A lack of qualified support staff makes the job more challenging.
Advisors don't receive enough training on how to automate their work.
Advice to Senior Management
Implement a training program to teach advisors how to automate their practices and become more efficient in the use of the technology as it is rolled out.
