ProsThe company seems to be on the right direction strategy wise. focusing on their wealth management and limiting the investment banking unit. they bringing and promoting the right poeple

ConsThe company still have a lot of internal controls, especially in the Finance department. Furthermore, the company is not integrated well in regards to the services they provide to clients. each unit is working alone without proper communication and cooperation with other units ti achieve efficiency and better costumer service.

Advice to Senior Management1. you have to increase bonuses and salaries if you want to keep high quality people in the company.
2. you should have a hard look at your internal controls and internal audit, it doesn't seem to work.

New York, NY

Former Employee – worked at UBS IB

ProsMy group had a great culture and I definitely learned a lot during the first year in my position. There were a lot of trainings (lunch n learn, training the street, etc.).

ConsConstant management change, unclear strategy, lower comps than the rest of Wall Street firms. The corporate culture is mixed and your experience will depend a lot on the specific group you are in.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay people fairly otherwise people will just walk out or go to other banks.

ProsThe benefits are good, the tone is generally friendly. Work/life balance is very good.
The firm successfully turned around after the 2007/08 disaster and seriously tries to repair the UBS brand, with quite some success so far.

ConsCompensation is sub par, last bonus round was disappointing for the lower ranks despite good results. This is not a good way to retain good people.

Advice to Senior ManagementAvoid becoming too greedy again. Do something about the perception that UBS is a second rate investment bank.
