Pros
salary is above the industry mean . with signing bonus . team is friendly and competitive . overall not bad to be a starting place
Cons
low reputation at all fields except fx . the bank is suffering from huge losses and due to CHF appreciation . need ot work way more hard to get bonus
Advice to Senior Management
it's all fine . the application process is smooth .but the thorough enough . HR sometimes rude regarding the the questions. i will chose UBS among the offer
Pros
good salary, good exposure, good environment and exit opportunities for growth, good networking options and corporate culture is extremely accomodating and helpful
Cons
career growth might be stunted sometimes also they have to keep bailing out the IB industry hence sometimtes salaries arent as good some years.
Pros
The benefits package is quite flexible and generally good.
Cons
Lacks consistent vision.
Too many management changes, leading to changes in vision.
Too slow to make decisions.
Simple decisions need to go to senior management when they should be dealt with by more junior management.
Advice to Senior Management
Cut out the beaurocracy.
Pros
Friendly culture, good work life balance, reasonable renumeration
Cons
Limited opportunities for career progression
Advice to Senior Management
Staff retention is key
Pros
The advocacy for work-life balance is astounding, especially when compared to my erstwhile employer (IB division in a commercial banking behemoth). Front-to-back systems is top-notch, meaning analysts / controllers can go about doing their proper jobs and value-add, rather than do systems patch work.
Also, the organisation flow is very flat - and there is great openness and direct conversations had on many a subject (hence, little risk for corporate, interneccine toxicity)
Cons
Very calm. Almost too calm. Then again, that's not an issue now, is it??
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work!
Pros
good, Fair assessment of skills of employes, get compensated based on your P and L, good team work, look after good employees, good trustworthy brand name, good internal infrastructure to enable one to succeed with goals.
Cons
not very good at developing employees, often burocratic, not flexible, communication with line managers, top management is sometimes poor, not best alignment of employes goals.
Advice to Senior Management
make internal organisation structure more flexible, develop leaders, help workers build more relationships internally, organisational leaders should work better at motivating people apart from pay.
Pros
Once in, UBS are flexible about moving internally.
Cons
None that I can think of.
Advice to Senior Management
You don't save money by scrimping on pencils and pens whilst sending people on business class trips.
Pros
Communication from Senior Management is Good.
Values employee's contribution
Cons
Not great if you want to progress in Job (at least in EMEA).
Advice to Senior Management
None
Pros
Good work life balance compared to others
Cons
Poor compensation in the past couple of years
Advice to Senior Management
Try to improve compensation
Pros
-opportunities to move location
-work life balance
-structured development opportunities
-good internal mobility
-management support for personal development
-fair promotions
Cons
-reputation has suffered in the financial crisis
-management change priorities and focus too often
-sometimes management paint with a broad brush when there needs to be more attention to small differences between teams
Advice to Senior Management
need to pay more attention to differences in operation between teams and not assume one size fits all..also need more consistency
