I have been working at UBS full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Advanced IT system platform, paperless and less manual task due to the great system
Competitive Pay and above average staffs benefit egs. swisscare credit & all rounded insurance coverage
Generally good working culture and professionalism, high caliber workers, has standard in hiring
Good work life balance across except certain team in operations. Eg: Account admin doc team worked past mid-night
Effective balance between compliance & efficiency established processes & workflow, good learning ground for fresh grad

    Cons

Too little promotion headcount, many has the tenure of services and capabilities but just no headcount to promote them.
Can be very fake and political in some teams, heartless at times
Unfairness and bias within teams lead to low morale or unhappiness
Tend to penalize fast and efficient people, by giving them more work without distinct better compensation / recognition as compared to the less productive. Capable workers are take for granted.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give more opportunities to existing talents and not recruit outside rather than promote internally.
Put more right person at middle or high management who can gives solid contribution and lead teams well rather than people good merely in talking / networking

    Flexible working hours

    Cons

    No promotion slots
    Thin bonus
Small salary growth, can't even compensate the inflation
People turn over rate is too high

I have been working at UBS as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

Quite a nice place to work at. Mostly is about the work done (quality), and not how much work is done (quantity).
People are generally competent, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.
Welfare is generally quite reasonable. There's a committee to engage the staff in various activities and festivities.

    Cons

    Some managers could be micro-managers
Some will make use of you for their promotions.
Interrnal mobility at junior level is near impossible, leading to mass seasonal departures

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management need to engage their subordinates more, be it career development or team-related issues.
    More transparency and sharing sessions.
Provide words of encouragement. Do more, talk less..
Be open to feedback from all levels of staff
Contract staff also contribute to the company, at times more than permanent staff. Please do not treat them as 3rd class citizens or as liabilities.

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at UBS full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

World class training resources available to build up relevant skills and knowledge

    Cons

Alot of cost cutting, headcount approvals are taking too long, people leave and arent replaced, too many reorgs

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest more on the future and on talent retention instead of trying to focus too much drive costs down

I have been working at UBS full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good career development and training opportunities. Great management efforts on staff engagement. Generally good working culture in terms of team collaboration. Excellent company value.

    Cons

Too much red tape - too many levels of approval required to drive any change. Laggard in terms of technology capabilities. Too much emphasis on front office, neglecting back office (Operations and IT) resource requirements to adequately support the business. Premium paid for external hires instead of sufficient reward to retain existing talents.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Would be great if there's more focus on talent retention, giving more pay raise and promotion opportunities to existing staff who are performing well, instead of hiring consultants and externally at higher costs but less efficiencies.
