    People over Pay....

    Director (Current Employee)
    London, England (UK)

ProsGreat work life balance and nice people. They'll help you through exams and provide and great learning environment.

ConsPeople only get salary raises when they threaten to leave. They should have a better reward system. Overly bureaucratic management bring large barriers to change.

Advice to Senior ManagementReward people when they do something good.... not when they threaten to leave.

Good company to work for but used to be better

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    London, England (UK)

ProsGood terms and conditions, good and friendly people. Swiss way of doing things.

ConsConstant job cuts for last 5 years. Salary frozen/cut for 2 years. Too much outsourcing.

Advice to Senior ManagementReduce outsourcing (it not cheaper in the long run) to allow people to have more career paths in UBS. Cut red tape.

    Good Place To Work

    Solution Lead (Former Employee)
    London, England (UK)

ProsQuite relaxed yet results focussed. Overall met and worked with quite a lot of good, smart and interesting people. That said, there was definitely the odd "dud" floating around as well.

ConsExecutive management were badly flawed at the time I was there, would appear to have improved since then.

    Great responsibilities but with shortcomings

    Intern (Former Employee)
    London, England (UK)

    ProsGreat responsibilities from the start
Seniors generally willing to help out and mentor younger colleagues
    Good exit opportunities
    Good training provided
    No face time

    ConsUnderstaffed
Took a long time for HR to deal with people who made the workplace uncomfortable
Employees seem dissatisfied and unhappy generally
Unequal distribution of workload between teams, leaving some without much work and others who are overworked

Advice to Senior ManagementGet HR to take quicker action against employees who make the working environment uncomfortable for other people, and reward hard workers with proper bonuses instead of crummy 'Appreciation Awards', or else you are bound to LOSE THEM.

Not quite a nice place to work at

    Analyst (Former Employee)
    London, England (UK)

Pros1. Excellent salary and benefit package
    2. Good on your CV

Cons1. Lots of redundancy made since Oct 2012 - 10,000 positions to be made redundant in 2/3 yrs' time
    2. Low morale - employees have little motivation to push themselves further given that promotion and bonuses are close to non-existent for MO/BO
    3. Wasteful - people spend a huge amount of time doing things for the sake of doing them, knowing no value is added
Some senior employees (e.g. ED/MD) are dissatisfied with the IB CEO, given that he was hired directly from outside and was paid $26m to join amid turbelent times at UBS. Also, they may not work together or even work against each other in different teams/departments, thereby leading to lower revenue being made
Junior employees (e.g. NO/AO/AD) may not work together to solve issues and may hide what they know/what they do. It's understandable that one may be ingeuine at work, but being fake all the times and saying non-sensial work to be of high value is truly disgusting.
