    Pros

Great team atmosphere. Extremely helpful and encouraging towards employee growth. High communication across multiple levels of employees. Very diverse and growing. Allows opportunities to those that most companies would pass on.

    Cons

    Workload can sometimes be overwhelming.

    Pros

Because of a referral by a current employee, my time there was fine. Had no problems with my hours, if I had to take time off, my supervisor at the time had no problems.

    Cons

When a new hire came in and had no liking to the employee that referred me, she made my life a complete hell. If anyone that was loyal to the employee that referred me, she gave them a hard time and again, would be angry that everyone liked the person that referred me.

    Advice to Management

Don't get in the way of how your employees are doing their jobs. If it ain't broken, don't fix it. Management needs to have a better understanding of to why they are in business in the first place. If It weren't for all the non-exempt employees that work there, they couldn't get their big-shot salaries, bonuses and stock in the company in the first place.

    Pros

Progressive approach to infrastructure and software. Many companies are stuck in the past, keeping old systems alive even though they are outdated and problematic. UBS is at least trying to remain current. Or they were when last I was there.

    Cons

Some amazingly bad middle managers with no regard for employees personal lives. If you get one of them expect to work until at least 7PM every day as well as be on call 24/7. Telecommuting is up to the individual managers are an all to great percentage of them are iron-fisted micro-managers so they do not allow it at all. Their approach to systems and software is at odds with their approach to people. I would not work there again.

    Advice to Management

Do a better job of recognizing that just because someone is a great technician does not mean that they are a good manager.

    Pros

Large enough to have areas of interest for any employee, sitting on large excess capital base so the bank will never fail, if you can make your boss look good, you will do well.

    Cons

Not an innovator, late to any trends in the markets, then pay top dollar for asset acquisitions, leading to inevitable failure. Regularly cited by regulatory agencies for unethical violations, senior management came from Merrill Lynch, and continue to have that old Wall St mentality of pushing high cost, high margin products across the board. Despite this, the bank fails to grow (+2% yoy top line growth) forcing regular headcount reductions to grow bottom line.

    Advice to Management

A bank can grow and still be ethical

    Pros

Ability to work from home, time off, work/life balance. You make your best salary deal walking through the door do make it a good one.

    Cons

Operations moving to Nashville. Limited raises, bonuses and promotions. Recommend that you transfer into a new position every two years to maximize growth.

    Advice to Management

Stop promoting non SMEs to low level management positions. Too many people reporting to managers that do not know how to run the group.

    Pros

    - Worklife balance depending on your team
    - laidback

    Cons

First of all UBS is not what it used to be 5 years back. You will be disappointed if you compare UBS to JP Morgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, GS and Credit suisse in terms of compensation and bonus.
    - UBS pays a decent compensation which can be compared to a mid-size companies
    - Benefits are not are great as it used to be and slowly its getting slashed every year
    - Most the of good senior technical folks who left are not being replaced and leftover is distributed among the junior employees. The best part is that even these junior employees are not be awarded
    - You won't feel proud or enjoy working here now-a-days as due to ongoing structural changes and layoffs, people are more concerned about having their job than actually doing it.
    - Things might be different if your rank is ED or up

    Advice to Management

    - It should be clear to management even though they are laying off tons of employees, on the other hand a much larger employees are leaving voluntarily which should indicate something is wrong. Rest management is smart enough to understand whats currently going on.
