    Pros

Novel research, access to med/vet schools for collaboration, friendly environment

    Cons

Could be more inter department/college communication, not knowing what tools/research are available in other departments

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get better at recruiting for graduate (MS, PhD) careers outside of academia, and networking with Bay Area biotech companies.

    Pros

The people who work here are absolutely wonderful, full of energy, and travel enthusiasts. This is a great job for anyone who is just starting off, loves traveling and working with students, and needs a temporary job.

    Cons

I worked at an hourly wage, which was not as competitive as it could be. There is also a turnover of senior management every few years, so long-term stability is left to be desired.

    Pros

It helps me to pay in state tuition so that it is really a high level salary. And it helps me to know about University of California undergraduate study situation. Get familiar with professor and undergraduate students.

    Cons

The work is very easy and just takes me little time to do it so it does not help me to improve myself.

Great place to do research. I work in plant sciences, and we have some of the best top-notch researchers here. Access to a lot of campus resources and the benefits are really great. They offer free classes just for faculty and staff to improve your performance/work relationships/career path

    Cons

salaries are generally less than competitive. if you don't like college campus culture, working for a university may be a big con

    Pros

The benefits and retirement pension are a definite plus. It is also exciting to work on a college campus with a charged environment. The best part of the job is definitely working with the students!

    Cons

Staff is not valued by upper management, they are definitely out of touch. When you give a merit increase please make it an actual increase not just a small bump to try and cover the increase to our pension plans.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Salaries for the staff need to be looked at and increased to come in line with other workers in the private sector.

    Pros

    - pay (student pay): I started at 10.25 for student director position, which is great considering every other position in other units only get paid 8.
    - people: everyone gets along, is friendly and open minded.
    - environment: supervisor is great, gives you a lot of creative freedom and license.
    - conveniently located on campus

    Cons

    - some of the overhead student employees give bad opinions and conflict with each other a lot.
    - the schedule is a little too relaxed at times
    - the hours of the building close too early so its hard to finish up projects late at night.
