    Pros

Majority of workers are nice especially the student workers

    Cons

Some of the full time workers are not nice

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Rotation of students should be equally distributed.

    Pros

Opportunities are general, not much restrictions.

    Cons

Too many unnecessary procedures and too much ridiculous competitions (B.A majors compete lab opportunities with B.S. majors) and you'll never have the resources you need.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Many departments have overlapped functions. Moreover, these overlapped functions are not professional and compulsory. Should simplify the administration to enhance efficiency.

    Pros

Easy work and opportunities to talk and engage with guests and co-workers. Management of the MRAs are done by student employees as well, and they are very personable as well.

    Cons

Busy work and lots of downtime walking around the ARC pretending to be busy.

Current Employee - Postdoctoral Researcher in Davis, CA

    Pros

I am working as a post-doctoral researcher. So, my experience should be considered only for my department as there is not much interaction with rest of the University and students. I had a good time working in the lab.

    Cons

There is no interaction of the post-doctoral researchers with the students or rest of the department. This makes them detached from the University in general. This is more so for foreigners who were not connected to UCD for their previous education.

Feel like I am doing some important work

    Cons

Training can be lacking and I don't see a whole lot of room for advancement in my field unless I go get a PhD and become an academic.
Often, computer systems and other technological areas are very outdated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Don't ignore support staff.

Current Employee - Graduate Student Researcher in Davis, CA

    Pros

The resources and potential for collaborative work at UC Davis is extensive. The faculty is top-notch. The grad school environment is very interdisciplinary, and there are a lot of active student groups and extension work on campus.

    Cons

Difficult to find funding sometimes - TAships are available but they are competitive and leave little time to conduct your own research.

    Pros

As a student working for the school, they are extremely understanding of work-school balance. If you have class or other school related conflicts, they will totally understand. They put school ahead of work for students, so that's awesome.

    Cons

No chance for student workers to get raises. Raises are allocated every two quarters worked and is a measly 25 cents.
