    I worked at UCLA

    Pros

Everyone is helpful and when you are new they are always willing to teach you the procedures for certain jobs.

    Cons

The patients tend to be very needy and difficult and willingly file complaints against the administrative assistants. This makes working there a lot more difficult.

    Cons

All the same as working in any large corporation: bureaucracy.

I have been working at UCLA full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Flexible work schedule; commuter job; very good balance of work and life priorities; every department is different so speaking with employees (past/present) in that particular department is advised. My office is less political than many other departments.

    Cons

HR gets confused a lot as would any large company. Could be political depending on situation/department (i.e Academia.)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More staff trainings and group activities to foster growth and promote loyalty/sense of belonging, esp with new staff.

    Recommends
    Neutral Outlook

I worked at UCLA full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Colleagues are smart. The department is well-run, high-achieving. Promotion opportunity if you do well. Leadership very strong.

    Cons

This is a very corporate environment, rigid in attitude and dress. If you want anything more fluid and even remotely informal, this is not the right cultural fit.

Very positive - excellent manager in Backbone Network Services

Former Employee - Network Engineer in Los Angeles, CA
Former Employee - Network Engineer in Los Angeles, CA

I worked at UCLA full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

A lot of latitude in the direction of work. No office politics and an emphasis on getting the work done. Great crew in network engineering and operations. Some other groups were overly protective of their jobs.

    Cons

Pay not that great, but the benefits were very good. Training needs to be done on your own initiative and there's very little support for training.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To upper mgmt - don't nickel and dime your staff. It lowers morale. Show some appreciation in terms of actual support rather than just mouthing words.

    I worked at UCLA

    Pros

Hands on experience working with top tier physical therapists.

    Cons

Not many hours are offered when you first start. The longer you work there however, the more hours you will receive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management was really helpful and caring. They understand that being a student is top priority
