I have been working at UF Health

    Pros

Great training and education for employees.

    Cons

There really are not any negatives. The only suggestions I could make are, it would be great if they could remodel many spaces in our facilities.

    Cons

Staffing issues, long ED wait times.

    Good experience

I worked at UF Health as an intern

    Pros

It's a teaching hospital so the company is very focused on teaching it's employees. For the most part the staff at the hospital is kind and helpful.

    Cons

For me there were not any cons personally that had to do directly with my position and growth personally at the company. Since it's a big hospital with several department it's bound to differ for everyone.

    Pros

They work with you on needing time off. There are usually many opportunites for advancement; and they offer tuition reimbursement. The Health Insurance offered is excellent along with the 401k.

    Cons

The starting salary was much lower than what I had expected. Having worked at UF Health Gainesville they pay substantial more. They do not allow overtime or allow you to work part time in another department; which would be nice to make up the difference in the lower salary.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work with State Legislature to get more reimbursement for the indigent care and Medicaid we provide. Then you would be able to pay your staff appropiate salaries; and therefore attract better quality staff.

I have been working at UF Health full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

We have some of the best physicians anywhere. I have real confidence in their skills and expertise and i would put my medical concerns in their hands. I enjoy the employees they are congenial and many are very hard working and passionate about what we do. We emphasize work life balance. We have a new President- Russ Armistead and he is FANTASTIC!! He has gone above and beyond to keep all of the employees in the communication loop and has made it a point not to hide and be openly available to ALL. He listens to suggestions for improvement from everyone and actually does them if they are possible. The information about the CEO is incorrect below

    Cons

Middle management need alot of training. Very little opportunity to grow within the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote from within, you have some of the top talent and you're losing them due to lack of growth opportunities. When an internal position is available look to your staff and don't lock them into one role.

    Pros

The pay is excellent and the benefits are not too bad. The organization is a stable place to work. You do accumilate great PL hours

    Cons

Organizational culture and beghavior is really bad. If you choose to educate yourself,m is it is not to be a nurse you can not move up in the organization. It is very bias and management does not care about the employees. You have to have very thick skin to work here!!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pay attention to your employees!!!

I have been working at UF Health full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Upper management works hard to communicate with all levels of staff. Great patient care, safety, and research are high priorities. Many positive and caring staff/clinicians who have been here for many years. Very high standards of practice.

    Cons

Middle/upper management can be political or power-driven. Established and/or large systems are the hardest to change, even when it is obvious that change is needed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please continue with the drive to improve health care research, but don't sacrifice patient care and employee satisfaction/morale in the process.
