    Great Place to work

I worked at UNC Charlotte full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Lots of holidays and time off during the year. Closed during adverse weather conditions and you need only report if you are considered essential.

    Cons

Not many opportunities for promotions or pay increase. Seeing as though it is considered a government position there are not may raises.

I have been working at UNC Charlotte full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There is a lot of flexibility as far as the work hours and the environment is very laid back. I often come to my office space late in the morning and leave in the evening because that is when I am more focused.

    Cons

Your area of research is limited to what grants the advisor is offered. So you want to choose your advisor wisely.

I have been working at UNC Charlotte part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Working at HRL, I got a huge variety of experience. Every day held something new. The scheduling for student workers was extremely flexible.

    Cons

The variance of work from day to day caused some bad habits in the workforce. Some days would be very easy and relaxed, and some days would be difficult. This is all well and good, but some of the employees got a bit too used to the easy days. When the hard times came, a lot of people forgot that they were being paid to work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management was fairly hands-off except for when advice was needed. I like that a lot. Give instructions and they'll get done. Step-by-step advice will be requested if desired.

    Recommends
    Neutral Outlook
