I worked at UPC Broadband full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Many great employees all over the organisation, lots of experience to be shared. Due to the nature of the company, many possibilities to be challenged with new tasks.

    Cons

The lack of work-life balance has caused problems to many people, combined with an HR department strategy not to support people adding to the amount of victims. The companies department are fighting each other on political level, causing frustration for employees and lack of productivity for the company as such.

I have been working at UPC Broadband full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - huge service provide network - challenging network projects - newest and most advanced network shack - always something interesting - multicultural environment, a lot of enthusiastic people - market rates

    Cons

    - no budget for trainings, in most cases occasional trainings related to hardware purchase many times not relevant - very conservative attitude for flexible and remotely working - directors not much interested who is doing what and how, till there are no serious issues - no not much care about ordinary employees, everyone is easily replaceable - no mercy for snags - almost not possible pay rise or promotion within the current department

    Advice to Management

Focus more on people whom you manage, at least create an impression that you are involved.

I have been working at UPC Broadband full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Nice parties, meeting with nice catering, celebrations. The company offers expensive trainings, also abroad.

    Cons

Our tools are old and full of bugs, which brings to a lot of frustration and stress. Task are given at the very last moment: "this had to be done for yesterday" is the most common sentence. Bad management: their only role is to put pressure on people micromanaging their staff. A simple task can take months, because of bureaucracy and technical problems

    Advice to Management

Communicate with people and try to improve the process for real, and don't suggest to your employees just to finish the task because it's urgent promising to solve the issues later on (it never happened)

    Pros

exciting to be involved in large pan european projects

    Cons

a lack of communication and visibility between senior management and the workforce

    Advice to Management

Meet directly with more people that are involved with the deployment of the projects themselves. Make informed decisions to ensure money is spent on the areas that will deliver most benefit to the customer base. Ensure all employees are given an opportunity to grow.

    Pros

    Snel groeiende onderneming in Europa

    Fast growing corporate in Europe

    Cons

Slecht personeelsbeleid.

Poor management, unability in performing their role and lead all departments. Unscheduled and uncoordinated tasks. No trainings, no internal resource except for external vendors which obvious consequences. Missing "know-how" and proper technical knowledge from the management necessary for delivering good products to the final customer. "Unclear" relationship with external vendors. Bad HR.

    Advice to Management

Spend less time in US, giving useless speech once in a while. Come to Amsterdam and realise what the real issues are. Be more transparent, honest with your employees and avoid politic.
